Just got stoped by 2 very nice policemen, in town 30mph. who lazered me but my jammer jammed them, they stopped me and had a chat. I wasnt speeding and they acknowled that but they asked about the jammer and more serious offence then speeding.
Wheres the jammer sir? me points to them
Who fitted it? Me
how old is the car? - 6mths old
Where is the buzer located, - showed them the two black things in the grill and the buzer in the car,
What does the intructions say about how it jams- dont know though it was just a detector not a jammer officer.

anyway they kept on asked if i knew it was a jammer, (starting to get worried now) me - opps no sorry officer i thought it was a detector only. if i had known it was a jammer i wouldnt have had it. I wasnt speeding and I didnt know it was on. They confirmed it was as it jammed them.

How is it attached and can it be removed - yes.
Out comes penknife from police - can you remove it Sir?
Yes of course officer
within 2 nats whiskers the jammer is removed and put safely in my boot.

Was told that if he/they wernt such a nice policemen and if I had got a nasty one, things would be a lot more serious for perverting the course of justice.

Phew!

Anyway just have a producer for insurance etc, but thats it. Lucky escape I beleive, I dont think it will be refitted in the near futute.

Understand that there has been no test case yet but i dont want to be the first. Clearly the police are now wise to Jammers, but was easy going on me as I removed it there and then and said I beleived it was a detector only not a jammer and was humble pie time..

This must be after that (IIRC) idiot in South Wales paraded up and down the M4 flaunting his jammer at the cops....

I fear that there *will* be a test case shortly - and in the current climate any "jamming" device will made quite thotoughly illegal.

And I know its hard to frame legislation that bans having a light emitting device on the front of your car (headlights! ) but they'll manage...

Oh...and I don't have any kind of device GPS/Radar/laser/detecting/jamming whatsoever. I rely on observation, choosing an appropriate speed for the circumstances and being darn lucky!

Sounds like these were wise cops then. Did the jammer just go once and then you turned it off?

they stupit thing was, and is I dont speed in 30 or 40 mphs zones, so to get stopped in a 30 at 30 because they were jammed is a bummer.

But i have been getting more worried about having it as I dont want the book thrown at me for perverting the course of justice and as they legal system and govt policy is at the moment i would end up with 6 months banged up with Wycliffe. 'Gulp'

So a lucky escape.

it is a Blinder Twin somthing. I bought it about 4 years ago - so ive had my moneys worth I think the name has now changed to a K40 difusor.

It works very well.

It was on the speed trap bible reviews and came out as very good and thus i bought it from Denmark/Sweeden i think.

They were quite friendly and not and i got the impression that its better to co-oporate and tell the truth and take the thing off, eat humble pie, rather then to pi~s them about as they knew I knew what the thing did but just aplogiesed and not admit to knowing it was a Jammer but only a detector.

PERSONAL IF THEY REMOVED IT AND CUT AWIRE I WOULD SEND THEM A BILL AND COMPLAIN OF CRIMINAL DAMGE TO UNIT

NO CRIME HAS BEEN COMITED AS YOU WERE NOT SPEEDING AND CANOT PREVERT THE CAUSE OF JUSTIS BY HAVING IT FITED AND WORKING.
AND ITS DEBATABLE IF THEY WILL EVER GE A SUCSESS FULL PROCUTION IF YOU WERE.

NEVER BEN A CASE YET THAT WENT TO COURT

Not sure if you saying you thought it was only a detector would make a difference to be honest.

Ignorance is no defence and all that...

Thanks for your reply outlaw, sure, but I offered to take it off, cut the wires, and am not too keen to be the test case !

Im cant afford to be buggered like Wycliffe. and as mentioned would be petrified of being banged up even for 1 day.

Someone will no doubt tell me I am wrong, but if they acknowledged the fact that you were not speeding then they should never had lasered you in the first place.
Does there not have to be a suspiscion that you are speeding before they can use the gun ?

That's what I thought as well. Also if you were not speeding how could you be peverting the course of justice?

Another good post outlaw!

Everyone will want to tell you what you should have done, but wonder how many people would really be brave enough to question their grounds for lasering you or refuse to answer their questions (OK - Outlaw may be the exception judging from other posts! ) And if they did it would probably just p*ss off the coppers and cause unnecessary hassle for all involved.

Personally I think you took a pretty sensible approach and got the right outcome. Your experience confirms my uneasiness about fitting a blinder. I've been thinking about it for a while but like you I have no desire to be the test case.

I'll probably just stick with my Road Angel combined with a bit of common sense and hope to stay lucky!

Perverting the course of justice, my arse.

they'd never make that stick... probably just bulshitting you - frighten you into getting rid of the thing..

Personally I concur with Don - I think you're better off without any of these devices - they provide a false sense of security similar to that engendered by seat belts, air bags etc... result being you'll be less vigilant if you have one of these devices and eventually you'll come unstuck bigtime.

Then the rest of the conversation will be continued and taped in a small room with no windows after you have been given the right to have someone informed of your arrest, to contact a Solicitor and to consult the codes of practice.

Not a good idea to "no comment" at the road side
if the offence is an arrestable one of which perverting justice most definately is!

Very bad advice outlaw. It may work for you but would most people have the balls to try it themselves? If it is evidence of an offence, then we can take it. If cutting the wire is required to remove it, then that is OK too.

But Madcop, and I dont mean this to sound like I am doubting you, as I am genuinely interested.

At the point that Superlight had been pulled, at 30 in a 30 and they discovered the equipment has an offence been committed?

Matt.
