Just posted this at the same time hehe

Yeah, Tim Brady - sounds like he worked for Porsche or an OPC, as he took the car from work without permission, and hit 172mph on a country lane near abingdon!

That has got to be jail time in this day and age.

It said he resigned...

TBH as he didn't crash, if he was good at his job I wouldn't be too bothered if I employed him.

you did get the bit that he 'borrowed' this car from work without permission... I have a sneaky suspicion he might have worked for an OPC and performed this little feat in a customer car....

I've done 186mph down a "country road" (not me driving) and although I won't say who/what/where, it was in very very capable car, by very capable driver, and I have it all on film.

The "country-ness" of the road was not a little one lane jobbie, it was wide, flowing, two way, and you could see for miles.

This guy is just unlucky to be caught!

Ah, that's a bit different. Two seperate issues here though. If the guy worked at an OPC it's fair to assume he can at least drive such cars, so the "speeding is bad blah blah" argument must be seperated from the fact that a bloke used a customer car to do such a thing, without permission.

This of course is all complete hearsay until something is verified!

well, thats it isnt it - its not like he ploughed through a brace of school children, or people nearby dropped dead from the speed he passed at...

And he didn't crash, suggesting at least the car and road could handle the speed.

But its still irresponsible, and as Soov says, its us that are going to suffer from this, as its more ammunition for the greenies.

Are you sure he wasn't a Police officer testing the car because then it would be 'OK' and 'safe' because they are 'trained' or on their way to the Chinese....?

For sure. It's the big headlines (such as this thread one hehe) that promote the message wrongly.

The guy is a complete and utter tool for doing it in a car that wasn't his, that was taken without permission. I just think that should be viewed separately from the headlines of 172.

this reminds me of Byker Grove when that lad took an audi (80) coupe from the garage he worked for and crashed it in an underpass...

completely agreed.
there is nothing to suggest he was driving dangerously/irresponsibly, obviously that would change things. its always depressing to see the kneejerk PH response similar to the 'safety' fools that xxx speed is just TOO fast without any other information.

his other problem is if it was taken 'witout permission' hes unlikely to be insured either !

True enough I spose, after all I have posted recently about me doing 'large' speeds myself. I wonder how much of a country road it really is though
