I was driving on the M4 in Wilts. yesterday. Knowing that I was in "Bandit" territory, I was keeping a close eye on both my speed & the brigdes. Just pulled into the 3rd lane to overtake a middle lane hogger, when I spotted the Talivan. I'm sure that my Road Angel displayed 75mph as I hit the brakes (no vehicles behind me). As I was the only vehicle in the 3rd lane, I'm assuming that the Talivan operator would have got me.
Technically I know I could be busted, in practise it is likely?
I know that doing 75 mph on a motorway in the dry, with light traffic & perfect light conditions is both wreckless & unforgiveable. I'm lucky not to have killed myself & 1000's of innocent children etc. etc.!

Well if you're doing 75mph indicated, you're only probably doing 70 anyway.

If a GPS device (Road Angel?)inicated 75 then I think the OP may have been doing 75.

In either case you're unlikely to hear anything for less than 79 (10%+2mph)

Hope you're correct. I'd be gutted getting done for 75mph on a motorway.

Where was this? I was under the impression that they'd stopped talivanning the M4.

I can't see there being a problem. If they got hold of everyone doing 75 the roads would be clear inside a month.

Unlikely at 75mph to be prosecuted.

ACPO guidelines state the prosecution threshold to be the speed limit + 10% + 2mph. So a speed of 79 or above will normally result in prosecution.

I've yet to hear of an exception to this on a motorway.

They are still well and truly there on the Wiltshire section

I'd be pretty annoyed if I was given a fine + points for 75mph on a motorway.

A ban is sooooooooo much more impressive

Thanks for the encouraging replies. Normally I wouldn't have been concerned, but the traffic was light & no other vehicles in the 3rd lane at the time. So I figured that Mr/Mrs Talivan might have been a bit bored.

OP's description of "bandit country" sums it up very well
Hope you get spared.
