Oh dear. It had to happen at some stage, I guess.

Just had my first indiscretion in the TVR and got zapped by a mobile camera.

Any ideas on what the likely outcome would be - I got caught a few years ago doing 38 in a 30 limit and got 3 points for that - is 25mph over a 60 limit likely to result in more points?

I hope not...

Just as well you'd lent your Tuscan to your Granny that day - lucky escape. Poor old dear probably couldn't see the speedo properly - bit of a change from her Morris Minor.

85 in a 60 should be ok for 3 points and £60.

86 would be a court appearance.

My commiserations to you, Richard. I hope things go as well as they can for you in this nonsensical system we have.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Upper limit of transgressions to be dealt with under a FPN is 25.99mph over - congratulations, you just squeaked in. 26.00mph over and a summons is unavoidable.

Except...

Some forces apparently will deal with lesser transgressions with a summons too - depends on the force.

Think there's some comment that might help further here halfway down the page.

I think at 26mph there's no option other than court summons for the force to give you - anything up to that they *may choose* to offer you a fixed penalty.

Agreed - however whilst an officer at the side of the road can use his discretion, a scamera has money to attain, and if the case goes to court then the court gets the fine!

So I am guessing that they would rather maximise revenue if all all possible...

Was it a posted 60 or a single carriageway NSL?

And does anybody have any experience of any of the legal companies available when these events occur?

I have heard that penalties tend to be a bit harsher for posted limits, but I don't know for sure. There does seem to be more enforcement on 60MPH duals than singles (no consolation for you) if that proves anything.

Same as me for 86 on a SC NSL.

If it had been anything more I would have contested as it was of dubious accuracy and the trafpol that stopped me offered support if it went to court.
