New Speed camera on A24 southbound just past A272 junction?
Discussion
Passed by here for the first time this evening and noticed a new camera covering both southbound lanes half a mile south of the A24/A272 junction in the 60 section. ( Not the one near the Garden centre further down) Couldn't get a picture and didn't recognise what type it was, any one know ?
There's been a Northbound one around there for ages so I suppose it was only a question of when they got round to it. Expecting to catch the front-runners from the Buck Barn lights no doubt.
Who will now be watching their speedos and not the traffic waiting to emerge from the side road.

The old bill used to stand by the layby after the junction by the new scamera catching speeding traffic, no need now I suppose!Who will now be watching their speedos and not the traffic waiting to emerge from the side road.

I noticed it today and it looked as if it was pointing sideways (90 degrees) to the road which is a bit odd! - that would explain the marks on the road before and after it which is also odd as it's a dual carriageway.
yes, i thought this too, definately lines before and after the camera, and the window in the box points 90 degrees across the road not down it. Can't find anything similar on the camera websites, but definately a speed camera as it's now on the sussex police websiteDoes anyone know whether these are operational yet?
I might have gone through them at slightly over the posted limit on Saturday early evening whilst trying to get a good look at a Pagani Zonda that was taking the Partridge Green junction.
The first I saw of them was the lines as the Camera Units are Grey and it was a bit wet and miserable!

Only they too can see you both before and after you've passed them.

the lens on these seems to face in direction of travel, yet the one on the A24 faces across the carriageway. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/speed/default.asp?sto...

I checked this out last night and there are a lot of signs leading up to it, very reflective in the dark. I think the camera would be very easy to miss if you don't know the road, so you'll need to watch out for people slamming on the anchors as they get to the crest of the hill. I guess that is safe though!
