Hi All

Does anyone know if you get a driving ban in the UK for say 1 to 90 days in length.

Can you still drive a car while under that UK ban in France,Spain or Portugal ????? i.e your own car or a hire car????

The way i see it, your only banned in the UK

Am i right??????

AFAIK, your license is banned - so you cannot use it whether in the UK or abroad.

However, if you had a 2nd license from another country, then you could still drive abroad using that instead.

You may want to confirm on S,P & L though - similar threads in the past.

Correct. The other country assumes you have a valid licence in the UK to allow you to drive. If you're banned you don't.

I asked, don't worry.
Can you imagine me not looking for every loophole? biggrin
Was clearly warned not to take the risk as prison ain't much fun in Portugal, Spain etc
Know someone who spent 3 weeks in a Spainish clink last year for similar.
He arrived back in the UK a couple of stone lighter.
Then got sacked from his job!

Edited to add if the ban is long enough to have your licence taken away until the ban is over, you cannot drive. If it's a short ban check with solicitor/DVLA
