Right guys,

Need a bit of advise from our friends in the forces.
Recently i built myself a potato cannon, using drain pipe, hair spray etc.
I have a load of fields connected to our house (our land) that i've been firing it on.
Now i've researched it on the net and it turns out the things classes as a firearm.
Now admittedly i understand its dangerous if firing it like an idiot, but we're standing at the end of our fileds or football fields firing apples to each other to catch.
We've had members of the public saying to us how incredible & impressive they are.
We've not been violent with it or continued use, maybe 10-15mins in one place, it doesnt make a very loud noise (certainly a lot less than a tuned car exhaust).
However one of my friends is getting a bit worried that he's going to get arrested a huge fine and a prison sentence for it.
I can appreciate his concern if we're annoying people but the general consensus is we're not.
If there were children playing around the area we wouldnt do it, we won't fire it at anyone or be mallicious with it.
I'm just curious as to what the BiB's view would be if you saw someone using it in this way, i.e. just a bit of fun with mates & not abusing it, would it just be a talking to and maybe a confiscation of the device, or an arrest, fine and prison sentence?

If they had their way the BIB would lock you up for farting in the wrong direction.

However, since they have all turned into gatso etc and there are few human police around, the chances of getting caught are nil.

FFS, they dont even bother investigating when you call them and TELL them there is a crime in progress.

Fire at will!

Your friend is right to be worried. Don't get caught with it.

One of the main problems is that kids will see what you are up to and copy you and you can guess how that will end up.

Google Firearms Act 1968 and see what you think. If it's a lethal barrelled weapon then yes, it's a firearm. But then CS spray as used by police is a s.5 firearm and that's neither lethal, nor barrelled.

What has Will done to annoy you?
Surely that would be classed as attempted murder, be careful as the BiB may wander out after a few days if you do hit Will!
You will be free from their attention, so long as you don't fire it from a speeding car!

We hav'nt been doing it anywhere near kids for that reason alone & we dont want to hurt anyone.
We did it on some football fields in the middle of nowhere, there was a couple walking their dog & 2 other guys walking their dogs, they thought it was absolutely brilliant, i spose like anything its dangerous if used wrong but it's not being used for anything like that at all, just a bit of fun - firing it into the air & catching it!

You're missing the point. Illegal possession of a firearm is a serious offence, no matter what you were or weren't doing with it.

You're going to sound like a right prick repeating that in front of the magistrate.

Hmm well if its botherhing people that much i'll stick to firing it my feld then, the law says as long as its not near a pubilc highway then its alright!
Actually - bks to it, i might just fire it from a speeding car, that way i'll get arrested, given a free house, an income & a personal bodyguard!

Dont get wound up about it.

Like I said the chance of getting caught is virtually nil. If anyone says they are going to report you, just hide it.

The only human cops left are either cruising up and down motorways in their £50k luxury barges or stuffing their faces with donuts.

(And before you bang on about "having to deal with dead bodies, scraping them up blah blah blah" its not that bad looking at dead people.)

Lol i'm not getting that wound up by it cos i have my own land to fire it on, but i was just curious to what the risks of continuing to fire it on an empty football field would be.
I would of thought the majority of BiB would use their common sense & either turn a blind eye / have a go or at worst confiscate it, none of us are trouble makers or have crim records, just a bit of boys being boys!

But its the law abiding ones they like best!

Be a chav with no job, cash or morals and you're fine!

(Just so you know, I am not a grumpy convicted speeder or convict of anything for that matter)
