Unfunny locals and food being smeared on my car

I've posted recently about my "For Sale" sign being shot at which I didn't report in the end (no evidence, etc), but twice in the past week (Sunday and last night) I've had food dumped on my car.

On Sunday it was about half a dozen oranges split open and pressed into the car (roof, windscreen and bonnet) - last night I had a couple of tins of baked beans dumped all over the car (including the windscreen which wasn't easy to remove)

And I've noticed this morning that some scrote's nicked off with my watering can.

What can be done about this apart from to sit in the bushes opposite the house to keep an eye out for the "hilarious kids" to try it again and throw oranges at them (as per an earlier PH post (not mine)) - I doubt very much that the police would be even remotely interested which leaves, well, vigilante type behaviour or to shrug and accept it.

ETA - You sure its kids? Sometimes adults do some pretty stty stuff too.

Yes the Police would be interested, as you're now a repeat victim. Try contacting your local safer neighbourhood team - your local force will have a web site with contact details. (However, bear in mind that there aren't actually that many coppers employed these days so the response will probably not be immediate). You could also report this to your council's anti-social behaviour team - they usually take this kind of stuff extremely seriously.

And I don't think I've pissed anyone off - I only really talk to the (nice) people in the shop and my neighbours.

Actually, the only person I've upset recently is the OH who has an alibi...

It might not be kids, but it's the sort of thing you'd expect kids to do - saying that, there was, a few years back apparently, a guy who used to walk down the street keying cars because he could. The residents then waited for him in some bushes and confronted him - the problem stopped, but there was no proof it was him so there were no charges.

I might give the police a call and see what they say. If anything. But I'm cynical about that having seen what they've done about this sort of thing in the past....

I've had my van broken into twice in 3 weeks. fking amateurs didn't want to go through the glass so mangled the door before smashing the glass anyway. Aaaand again a week or so ago.

Must add though, forensics came both times and took various samples, even looked for DNA. Slightly overkill for a car stereo? But hey..

I'm really hoping it doesn't escalate further... I think a call to the local constabulary might be needed....

I have seen a Segaris that drives round Rotherham with the 2 tone paint on it. That has clearly had paint stripper poured over the bonnet.

The worry is that it might escalate into more serious damage. Report each instance to the police and get a log number. Keep your own diary of when you've had incidents happen and when you've reported them.

Definitely call the police; community policing is a big thing at the moment. It means they have to be more accountable to local communities and act on what they (the communitites) want dealt with.

There's likely to be a local PACT (Police and Communities Together) group who you might also want to notify, possibly via your local councillor.

In my experience if you report it the Police will do the sum total of F' all. Catch them and give them a hiding if you want to see the Police in full over the top response to a situation.

I recently had one of my units broken into. They stole the safe, a computer. printer and some personal effects of a member of my staff. I have cctv footage and a member of staff had an anonymous phone call giving the name of the scrote and the fact that the safe is currently being kept at his current baby dispensers..sorry girlfriend.

after 7 days and a dozen phone calls i'm still waiting for them to "get back to me"
