Should I (can I) shop my neighbor?

Just wanted some advice, without sounding racist in any way which I am not, There's a Polish couple who moved in on the top floor of my flat and have been in residence for a few months now. They seem ok people and go about their business and is quiet so no problems. The only issue I have is that they have left a banger Merc parked in the car park and I noticed a month ago that they don't have a road tax disc on the windshield.

Asuming that the car has no road tax, one would asume he's probably be driving without valid insurance which makes my blood boil

The car is on Polish plates, not sure if I have grounds to tip off the DVLA incase they say they cannot prosecute cars on foreign plates. I know it'll be anonymous but I don't want to risk pissing them but bottom line is they're dodging the tax.

What do you think guys? Yes or no?

If it's registered in Poland it doesn't need a tax disc.

He can't/shouldn't do it for long though.

They can drive here for 6 months without tax, without registering car etc - if they only moved in a couple of months ago they aren't doing anything wrong.

Fair comment so do you advocate dodging road tax whilst the majority pays for it then? If it is indeed the case although proving it might be a tad difficult without involving the authorities.

I dont think it is racist unless he is a different race to you as opposed to different nationality, and your decision to shop him is based on race.

As mentioned earlier, he doesn't need a tax disc unless he is on British plates AFAIK

I would have a talk to the DVLA just in case. if he hit say your car, and not insured you would be annoyed if you don't get advice

Unless Stanislaw has been in the country for more than 6 months he's not doing anything wrong. I'd wait until you're sure he's taking the piss, personally.

Sounds to me like you would only be satisfied if you marched into their country and gassed them all in camps.

You don’t know he is dodging anything.

He may be a law abiding citizen and could cause bother between you and him if you shop him and he finds out.

It really isn’t worth having neighbours with bad feelings between each other.

Wasn’t been funny when I said keep your nose out – but sometime it’s just the best thing to do.

Not an offence, so nothing to report, as its not a UK registered car.

If it was a UK reg, then you can report it to DVLA or police. I had to go and fill in a form on an untaxed car someone reported the other week. Took 5 minutes to fill in form, it goes DVLA, they deal with it.

I saw a UK registered car in Stockholm, the cheeky fecker hadn't a Swedish tax mark on the rear numberplate, should I report him?

B. no, it's not necessary for foreign reg. cars to have Swedish tax.

The OP seems to be having a hard time comprehending that a foreign registered vehicle does not require UK VED and hence the Polish couple are not dodging anything.

On the other hand, if the vehicle is in the UK for more that 6 months during the year, then they would be obliged to register the car with the DVLA and then they will be liable for the usual taxes and costs associated with car ownership in the UK.
