You get aholes in every job though and it seems that this fella has fouled up big style.

As I said there is no excuse for what he has done. The biggest mistake he made was announcing what he did for a living rather than just doing what a member of the public would have done and called the police in the first place (or perhaps actually checked the car thoroughly first).

Oh dear.

But then you can in theory see how it happened. If they were a nice pair of expensive shades etc.. and he knew they were there before the MOT but not where he left them, then he jumped to a conclusion, though perhaps rather heavy handed...

I think he's going to get a fair ribbing back at station, along with a meeting without coffee...

I bet the emissions from this car and owner reads 99% bullsh*t 1% hot air.
I just dream of this car being a oil burner and doing the emission test.

Oh dear. The new discipline regs may get a work out. Although suspicion is a low threshold.

No, you have to be able to find things if you're a cleaner. He's obviously not that bright.

Hi smile

Ummm as the so called "theft" involved him personally, is there not some sort of Police regulation that says...he MUST call in another Officer and NOT get involved himself ?

Or am I being simplistic ?

All the best Brett smile

I'm sure the BiB on here can think of hundreds of occasions when they've arrested on less.

Honest mistake, conclusion jumped to by said BiB, formal complaint and he'll the story will be told by his colleagues for years to come. I daresay he'll learn from that mistake.
