Hello

Thank you very much for your help on my first posting.

My car has now been released by the police.
The recovery company still wants me to pay this extra £90+VAT for the Flat bed.
All cost are at my charge as I was only insured third party.

On which ground can I contest this cost which should not exist? Or where can I found the information/law?

Thank for your wonderful help

Regards

Jack

Hello

Thank you very much for your offer
I don't know how to put a link in so I am going to summarize what happen.

I had an accident and police recovered to a local recovery garage.

The recovery garage is charging me £105 for the recovery, £90+vat, and £12 per day for storage
I know that the £105 is the standard charge for a recovery from the police.
The £90+vat was for the hiring of a flatbed. The car was drivable, and the direction was not damaged.

I am sure the £105 should cover the flat bed and I shouldn’t have to pay this £90 extra.

I hope this give you enough information

Thank for your help

Regards

Jack

OK, the £90+ vat for hiring of a flatbed sounds complete b******s
The only thing I can think it being for is specialist winching charges, i.e if the car was in a ditch, upside down e.t.c.........As some recovery firms load the bill up this way. But it should state that and not for hiring a flatbed.
If you need anymore help please feel free to ask

If your fully comp insurance they should be paying for this.

When i had a minor bump in the golf (okay i wrote it off) i paid the breakdown £100 and they dumped the car on my drive.

The BiB said they had a specialist company that do it for £120, no extra charges.

Does that help?

AFAIK there should be no extra charges if the Police call out their registered recovery firm, it is a fixed fee (the AA are actually contracted to the police and then the AA sub it out)
The firm i work for isnt on the police register, but we have alot of dealing with the guys who are, i'll ask them if i get time tomorrow.
