Presumably to prevent it getting burnt?

Not the high sign obscuring it

How silly they are! They can put it on a 20 foot pole and itll still get whacked.

Bedford flatbed anyone?

Oh btw, its the first of a new digital gatso scamera.

They put the gatso up so high that they've had to raise the hieght of the road sign to hide it as well

Might be worth sending that picture to the tabloids. Graphic example of a camera not conforming to visibility guidelines, surely? If that photo doesn't graphically demonstrate the cynical tactics used to obscure Gatsos, I don't know what does. How can there be ANY justification for the heightened road sign?

Sorry but unlike "Nonegreen" who is prepared to enter into lengthy debate with the one-earing-wearing, gay-pinko' leftie, hair-shirt wearing, lentil munching tree huggers elsewhere on Pistonheads, I cannot be bothered to bandy words so I just state it as I see it. Rich...

george whitebread said it best..

"im a yorkshireman born and bread,i say what i like and i like what i bloody well say!"

i hope the scamera gets ripped out the ground by a lorry, with the lorry driver then backing up and finishing the job!

I've seen these two, but only mounted at trafiic lights. I don't think they are speed cameras, more likely to catch people jumping the lights.

Anybody know if they emit a visible flash?

Nah - these are different and are springing up in various places round Bristol.

No flash either....

If thats the one on the A38 in bristol then it looks even worse from the other side. The really annoying thing is they used to have a speed activated flashing sign about the same place (but it was obviously visable), which has now disappeared! It's bad enough replacing the sign with a scam, but they havn't even put it in the same place, but hidden it behind that sign!

Just had a thought..

Could it be high up so that it can catch people on the otherside of the road aswell? The armco starts just after the scam so it would have to be high enough to see over it. If there is no flash then it could get people heading towards it without dazzling the driver.

Is this possible, or am i talking rubbish?

Maybe, maybe not, but the real bastard trick is the street sign 20 yards ahead of it! Scumbags! Rich...

Should have seen it when the lower part of the roadsign was in place. Totally hidden then. See my thread 'New type of scamera'.
