Off Duty Officer
Discussion
Simple question could an off duty officer (driving his own car) pull you over on a dual carriageway?
Couldn't be sure if it was a police officer or somebody in a black shirt spoiling for a punch up.
Without going in to any more detail the car was displaying personal stickers, was unmarked, had no lights and was being driven very badly prior to the incident.
Just replied to you Bennno and you deleted the post! Doh.
I'm sure you just met a pedantic G I T....or maybe someone having a very bad day? I would never pull over for anything unmarked if it didn't turn on hidden blues and I understand that's allowed....protects us from all the nutters out there.
Your earlier post suggested you were very restrained, and probs should be commended for not under-taking like most of us would have done in that instance. Suggest erasing memory and carry on as you were?

I am not 100% sure, but looked like he had a black shirt on and was trying to get me to pull over.
Could have been a military type, or a nut job. Difficult to tell exactly as his car was a lot lower than mine.
Concerned from his behaviour and clothes he might have been an off duty policeman.

Don't most police officers wear white shirts?
not in the past 3 or 4 years in most constabularies, with the move to a fit for purpose wicking shirt ... i beleive that the Met lagged behind on this, but there does seem to be an issuewith a number of uniformed organisations and fetish for outmoded or formal uniform within the M25 jbsportstech said:
Doesn't the officer have to be in uniform? I was wondering this when stopped for. Chat but an unmarked Audi the officer has jeans and t shirts on but out on a police high viz.
No. Police can request you to stop when not in uniform (although it is not best practice) - however there is no offence of failing to stop if the officer is not in uniform.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
