The police may have an incentive to catch people speeding, but that is after all what they are supposed to be doing anyway. If they can mechanise part of their law enforcement surely that means more of the dwindling numbers of police can have a go at catching serious criminals.
AIUI, you only get one chance at a SAC, it could well be considered a final warning with enough disincentive to actually work (people whose time is more valuable to them than the money fines cost will feel it particularly).

The point of the organisation is stop the funding, cameras can't operate. No cameras, no points either.
I'm sure that they will just find some other way to tax us for the money to line the ex-coppers coffers.
Just convince all the other motorists not to break the speed limits so frequently and problem will be solved.I'm sure that they will just find some other way to tax us for the money to line the ex-coppers coffers.
Tricky one! Been on a SAC once (36 on a 3 lane 'motorway' to merge in nicely ) it was excellent and had many points I remember from my IAM test. Bloke was a biker petrolhead and was teaching about observation, anticipation, reading the road - barely even mentioned speed (and I was like a coiled spring... . I gather they aren't all as positive and useful, but I even picked up a bit of business there LOL
So to me it is a form of discretion that is sadly lacking in this arena so I will tolerate the nepotism and top cops and making a killing in retirement off the back of it.

Wouldn't have to break so many if they were appropriately set.Retroman said:

If only it was so simple. Historically, if people stop being caught by cameras, they just reduce the tolerances or increase surveillance where limits are inappropriate. Now, if there was an automated enforcement system that targeted middle lane morons, thats something I'd be wholeheartedly behind.

I'd rather do a speed awareness course than take 3 points personally.
How is it treated by insurance companies relative to points? When I was sorting out my cover last time, the questions included whether I'd been on such a course, not just whether I had points.Logically, and from the safety POV, if exceeding the limit is dangerous , then driving way under is equally dangerous and such drivers should be sent on SAC courses ( IF we had cameras to enforce that & INAPPROPRIATE SPEED) . But since the only way someone driving slowly is picked up, is by Police, THEN SMALL CHANCE, as these idiots can cause accidents.
