Did this once when my mate's car broke down. He had the hi-vis from work and his Mrs had a hairdryer in the boot.

Was funny watching cars slam on the brakes at 2am on a twisty back road.

"Villagers dressed in fluorescent jackets are pointing hairdryers at cars to mimic police using speed cameras in a bid to deter fast drivers in Moray"

Impersonation of a police officer? Isn't that considered naughty?

Surely not as naughty as actually being a police officer, in RH World, surely?

They'll all be laughing until someone crashes or runs one of them over.

Ha ha,

Had this once driving through Warwick. going through a 30 zone, which I've known all my life, and was doing 30 or less. Car admittedly at the time was very loud, so may have seemed faster. Two OAP's jumped out from behind a wall, one with what looked like a speed gun, could have been anything, the other with a standard camera with flash.

Firstly, as I didn't know they were old duffers against speed brigade, I thought they were children running out from an alley / back garden so slammed the anchors on. Secondly, the duffer with the camera was a bit slow with pressing the button, so took the pic while I was stationary, which then flashed me in the eyes, pissing me off a little bit!

So I got out the car to find out why two adults would try and cause an accident (ok, they wouldn't have as I stopped etc, but I was miffed) and I tell you what, for what looked like late seventies OAP's, they couldn't half run down the steep hill!

If you get distracted by someone standing at the side of the road I suggest you hand your licence in now.

I like the story of the army lad on leave from Northern Ireland,he was driving down the road when plod steps out from hiding and points a speed gun at him .He chased him down the verge with his car .Got just a warning in court .
Or an old one of back in the days of the big box type radar trap at the side of the road .
The speeding trucker spots the box in the wide gutter and runs it over .
They tried to charge him with all sorts but the magistrate liked his reply of the police shouldn't leave their toys on the floor to get tripped over .
