Will I get done?

Got zapped at the weekend by a traffic cop in a layby by the side of the A3. I was doing 85ish, he had a handheld device he was pointing down the road as he lent on his car door frame, but I wasn''t stopped later down the road or anything - in fact there were no other cop cars down the road at all that I could see. Question is, if he was planning to do me, would he have had to chase after me, or might his handheld device have an inbuilt camera, or have I got away with it?
