Buying a SORNed car
Discussion
I just bought a car from my daughter and transferred the registration across. Got the new registration document today and saw the reminder in it about taxing the car. The car has been SORN since last summer so I checked and of course saw that with the changes to continous taxation rules the SORN was cancelled with the change of registration, meaning the last SORN expired on September 1st and the new one only started today, meaning as far as the DVLA are concerned it hasn't been taxed or SORNed for a full month. Is there likely to be any follow up from this?
The car hasn't moved at all as it has been on my drive since it was SORNed last year, but difficult to prove it hasn't moved other than marks on the ground that will indicate it if it was moved!
My fault I know, but I had in mind that SORN had changed to not needing an annual declaration but forgot about the implications of a change of ownership.
