I passed my test in February 1990 and have done about 300,000 miles since without even being stopped by the police.

In early June i got 3 points for 48mph in a 40mph dual carriageway, deserted at 9am on a sunday. Oh well.
Last week I got another NIP, this time for 41 in a 30 zone. I remember what happened, I made a cock up and thought it was a 40 limit. Fair cop, etc.

In August 1994 I passed my motorbike test. The second three points were on the bike. Under the New Drivers Act of 1995, drivers have a 2 year probation period after passing, during which points count double. I'm hoping that this only applies to the first test you passed, not the second, otherwise I am now on 9 points, not 6 which is bad enough.

Can anyone clarify this? Do I just end up with the normal 6 points?

Excellent. Still a bit scary that I'm now half way to a ban....
