Firstly, know this should be in "Speed, Plod & the Law" but just re-registered so not allowed to post there frown

End of January, driving along busy but narrow road, clipped a legally parked car wing mirror but didn't stop and subsequently didn't report to local police.

I received a PIN for driving without care and attention a few days later. I have 0 points at the moment, so though it will hurt, that's not the problem.

I signed up for current insurance policy at the end of April to take effect 2nd May 2021. On 1st May 2021, DVLA issued an email V778 allowing me to change my reg plate (for example from "OLD 123X" to "NEW 123X"). As much as I'm sure I notified my insurers by telephone 1st thing 2.5.21 (they are not 24hr), they say they have no record of call. So when accident happended the car bore the plate "NEW 123X", was registered as "NEW 123X" but "NEW 123X" was not insured, "OLD 123X" was. AA have now updated policy - admin charge but no change to premium.

It's the same vehicle with same vin number and chasis number.

  1. Am I going to get 'Driving Whilst Uninsured' added to my prosecution list?
  2. Should I mention NIP to insurers (renewal 2½ months) yet

At the start of Feb I recieved a 'Notice of Impending Prosecution' for a driving without due care and attention at the end of Jan.
I understand the courts have 6 months to serve me notice of court date(?)

Its been 3 months now and I'm hoping that my relatively minor offence is low enough on their priority list that they won't bother. Stupid wishful thinking, or do I have a chance?
