Southbound this morning on the M1, 7.30-ish.

Skoda Fabia plodmobile. All liveried up "Community Support Officer" or something.

Followed him for a few miles until he turned off at J22.

All 3 lanes ahead of him were clear, but he sat in lane 2 all the way, at about 75.

What would our resident trafplods have done, had they witnessed him?

If the motorway is empty enough, I see nothing wrong with being in the middle lane, as you now have more room to swerve either side. However if traffic is gaining from behind then clearly you should be moving into lane 1.

Yes...we were all following him

A South Yorkshire police Focus was spotted a while ago near Sheffield...in lane 3 for miles...

Was it doing less than 70? If so I'd get up behind and flash it out of the way.

50 in the roadworks...

It was amusing to watch watch people dashing up lane 2 to undertake, thinking who are these tossers lined up in lane 3 when the middle lane's empty?

Some panic braking ensued.....

A bit off topic, but I'm intrigued to understand in what way HATOs have annoyed you?

They haven't...

Somebody mentioned HATO and, in a blinding flash of incredibly brilliant humour, it occurred to me that HATO sounded very Japanese...

So I sat and ruminated for about an hour...

Then it suddenly struck me that the Japanese had a natural bent to climb in aircraft and crash them into the enemy....

Then I ruminated for another hour.....

Then it suddenly struck me that HATO sounds like KATO (probably another Japanese name)....

Then I ruminated for another hour....

Then it suddenly struck me that calling HATO and KATO kamikaze pilots would be unbelievably funny....

So I did...

Oh, how I laughed....
