Try the BRAKE site for a totally alternative viewpointWe all know that speed and safe speed as well as driver ability are not the same things but the law is the law and unfortunately speed limits are set for the numptiest of drivers
We all accept the laws when we accept the licence so we have no reason to complain - we have a choice as to whether we drive and accept or do not accept so do not drive
This has probably been done to death but surely we can all see it has never had anything to do with safety and everything to do with money?
Whilst "speed safety cameras" net the treasury millions of pounds per year it can only be described as another tax with a PR spin name.
I can hear the PR people now "put the word safety in the title and they'll lap it up" and we do.
Over the last three years for example I clocked up 90k+ travelling for work and noticed that the scamera vans only seem to be out on the motorways when its clear, bright and dry.
I suspect that this is so they can get a clear image of the so called offender.
I have yet to see one out on a cold, dark, rainy night when the local lads are out for a hoon or people are just trying to get home from the pub after a few beers.
If the authorities really wanted to save lives then wouldn't they be better off redeploying all those people currently employed in the scamera business to their local hospital armed with a bucket of disinfectant and a scrubbing brush to wash down the wards?
I remember being told along long time ago (during the cold war, yes that long ago) that the only real difference between us and the population of Soviet Union was that they knew when they were being bulls
ted and we didn't, seems nothing has changed.

False arguement. The Holocaust was in line with the Nazi government's policy and you would be punished if you didn't comply as a prison guard. This doesn't mean criticism wasn't valid. (not trying to compare speed limits to the killing of millions, but illustrate legal/illegal isn't always right/wrong.We all know that speed and safe speed as well as driver ability are not the same things but the law is the law and unfortunately speed limits are set for the numptiest of drivers

Just down the road from me, there's a scamera at a 45 degree angle, having had a car run into in.... driver was injured, would have hit a 12ft chainlink/mesh fence if it hadn't been there....
I have no point, other than that one hasn't improved safety....
As you were.
There was a group of schoolchildren a few yards further down the pavement and the camera pole saved their lives. The authorities are proposing to install a camera every ten yards to protect the children.I have no point, other than that one hasn't improved safety....
As you were.

The international community seem to be rather more in favour of speed limits & enforcement than facism.
The representatives of 1,500,000,000 people in "the international community" seem to be rather in favour of the Syrian government at present. What does that prove I hear you ask?
Exactly.

Every country has speed limits & enforces them, how many countries not only support Syria's actions but also act as they do ?
