There was me, casually on the way to the pub this afternoon to meet up with the girlfriend after our first exams. Turned to go towards the shops at the BP garage. Turned around the corner and there was the wcensoredr on the other side of the road with the back window open and pointing towards me. A glance down at the speedo just before slamming on the brakes to be on the safe side showed 33-35. Sod's law that i had a thought in the back of my head that there may be one around the corner and did actually slow down, was it enough???

Atleast after it a fair bit of flashing was employed in order to warn other people about the tax collection operation around the corner, well apart from one chav who after seeing me do this decided to speed up, muppet.

you slammed on your brakes.... it's not the camera causing accidents, it's people like you. the camera didn't MAKE you slam on your brakes, you did that yourself

stop blaming an inanimate object for doing things, it's people having stupid reactions that cause accidents.... just like a gun doesn't kill, it's the person pulling the trigger, it's also not the camera that got a person caught, it's the person behind the wheel that got themself caught

may i add that i did check behind me before doing this as there was nobody following me, the braking only took me down to an indicated 28. may i say that if you were 3 points away from being banned wouldn't you do the same?

3 points away from being banned laugh not the best driver around are you !!!!!

talk about not learning your lessons.... Oh, I'm sorry, I bet none of them are your fault either, it's those nasty people catching you that mean you've got all those points, it's not your fault you've got them is it, you're not to blame for your own actions

Oh, and you had time to glance down at your speedo AND check behind you to see if it was ok to slam on your brakes, THEN you decided to slam on your brakes laugh.... why am I not supprised you've got 9 points already?

Do you go out your house wearing 3 foot long shoes and a big red nose? When you get in your car, does your seat rise up in the air and your wings fall off?

Entirely unfair without knowing the circumstances of the 9 points.

No, entirely fair

I've been driving for 19 years and never once got any points, why is that? because I take personal responsibility for my driving, I don't find that hard, if I can do it, so can anybody. Why do people try and put the blame on other things for their mistakes? if a person gets caught speeding, it's their fault, no if or buts, their fault.... they are the one behind the wheel, they are the one with their foot on the gas pedal, their fault!

i know this is a motoring web-site, but for gods sake, why is it that some people on here seem to blame everything but themselves when it comes to motoring? they get caught speeding, oh it's the fault of the person catching them... they get a parking ticket, it's the fault of the person giving them their ticket for not cutting them some slack when they have broken the rules... it's never seems to be the fault of certain individuals on here when they fk up and do something worng and get caught doing that thing wrong?

What do you mean when you say that you can't?
If you said that you won't, that's another matter, but 'can't' inplies some sort of lack of ability to drive to given parameters.

That's old fashioned thinking, you have to blame our evil government for your poor driving skills, these days biggrin

I am not really that familiar with the area...i only started at the uni in october and have never really driven down that road as i am in halls on the other side of campus. The closest previously, other than asda, was the college arms and other than that afew of the estate agents when sorting out houses for next year.

Ahhh - well, welcome to Reading.

Mind the speed cameras...

As far as vans go, that's the most problematic one in town...
