Quick question, is there any law regarding the use of yellow headlight lenses?

Like these, thinking about tinting my headlights, to yellow, I know they were/are legal in France and alot of Europe, but are there any laws regarding the use of, or having lellow lights?
Would probably be using a tinting film if it is legal to do so, just want to check thats all

No idea of the legality, but have you considered how the heat from the headlamps will affect the film? Same idea with stone chips etc.

Just a thought

should be fine, plastic lights, dont actually hold much heat in them, and will be doing the inside, might use tint spray, but less chance of messing up the beam pattern

Sorry Von, AFAIK EU law also applies in GB, has done since 1972!!!
EU law states that since 1995 all head and side lights MUST be white (as far as light can be said to be white!) even the froggies don't use them any more and they were the only feckwits to want them. Yellow is reserved for direction indicators and roadworks signage and some roadworks vehicles.

Yup! not showing the registering country and no EU flag! Here on the continent you can get hammered for those plates.... falsification of a legal document etc....

Thats interesting as all my notes/bitsnpieces show:

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989
SCHEDULE 5
REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO OBLIGATORY MAIN-BEAM HEADLAMPS AND TO OPTIONAL MAIN-BEAM HEADLAMPS TO THE EXTENT SPECIFIED IN PART II
7. Colour:
White or yellow

Whilst there may well be EEC Reg as mentioned there should have been an amending Statutory Instrument to make only white mandatory. I have as yet to find one. Looks like we Brits have not adopted the change.

If summoned for a Lighting offence tghe SI will be listed on the summons and not the EEC Reg

As long as the plate is readable by a camera, he'll still get the ticket. Does make you wonder though... hmm.

I found a slightly different section in the Regulation relating to front position lamps:

SI 1989 No. 1796 said:
The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989
SCHEDULE 2 (Regulations 18 and 20)
PART I
REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO OBLIGATORY FRONT POSITION LAMPS AND TO OPTIONAL FRONT POSITION LAMPS TO THE EXTENT SPECIFIED IN PART II
7. Colour:
White or, if incorporated in a headlamp which is capable of emitting only a yellow light, yellow.
Does this mean if the yellow film can be removed it's not legal?

I don't think that's the OP's car, if you check his profile. Not to my taste though, looks a bit 80s, why would you want to go backwards?

As for wanting yellow lights, something I want to see what it looks like, if I like it, ill keep it, just want to try something different

So I can use yellow headlights then?

Not a problem on racing cars running for 24 hrs with headlamps lit continuously.
