Short but sweet what would the possible outcome be if caught doing 90mph on cruise control by a camera van? I was not speeding but asking on behalf of a mate who was driving at the time. I imagine 6points and £250 fine? He has been cautioned at 2 non fault accidents, and given a slap on the wrist for undertaking in the past but no punishment or official things (I dont know if they record them all and if they could affect the outcome of his penalty).

Once got zapped by a van on the M40 in Warwickshire doing 99mph. Got a NiP, pleaded guilty and recieved five points and £650 means-tested fine.

Isn't 90mph (bearing in mind it'll be more like 87mph) is below the threshold so it'll be the standard 3 points + £60.

yes Up to 95mph in a 70mph limit normally qualifies to be dealt with by Fixed Penalty.

By fixed penalty do you mean 3points and move on or could it still be 6points?

Where abouts was he zapped?

The two hot spots I'm aware of are the bridge at J7 (Thame) & J3 (Beaconsfield).

Well, it won't be the last. I see them there at least a couple of times a week.

Same punishemnt I got for not realising the silly little van I was in, was not allowed to do 70 mph in the 70 mph zone I was in at the time.Bright sunny day, very light traffic....great system isn't it?

90 on the M40?

The person in the camera van was probably focussing on the people overtaking you. smile

I think we might have seen you, as we did drive past a silver Golf that had just been pulled over ! Was it an unmarked Octavia that stopped you ? Bad luck on getting stopped, I went to Leicester and back yesterday via M4/M40 and didn't see much police presence at all.

thats what he was hoping until I pointed out there was hardly anyone else around and we where moving past other cars who had spotted the van so would of stood out. well seems like it wont be too bad as 3 points seems to be standard these days.

Junction 3???

I think you mean J2 for beaconsfield as there is no overbridge at 3 that i can recall as J3 exits under the motorway.
