I tried a search but there's very little been said with regard to this. I'm just a tad disappointed with the low end throaty gurgle of the Sagaris as compared to my previous Tuscan 4.0 I know the 90 degree bend on the tailpipes strangle the Sag somewhat, but I would love to hear comments for and against de-catting, who makes the best de-cat pipes and whether there is an appreciable hp gain? Will I need a chip and re-map etc? Replies greatly appreciated.

Go on, you know you want to......lol

I do not have any figures for Rolling Road pre or post. All I can say is I like it more post upgrade
It pops, it bangs and I believe it flames somewhat too, although I am yet to see this directly I have seen the orange glow. I had it remapped and chipped and de-catted(Meow). Basically, it's louder and poss a bit quicker but not sure. All personal TBH so go with your gut feeling....you could always change it back.

EFI.FAB and all that.....

I was told by one of the guys at Xworks if de-catted they lose torque, don't know if that 100% true though.

I Believe Dave Chant (Ntel) makes decatted pipes and his decatted Tuscan sounds epic.

Thanks. Is it "silly mad" louder during idling and acceleration, or mainly just pops and bangs? On a scale of 1-10, is it slightly embarassing, or blazenly nuts? Where did you get them?

no question in my eyes, it needs a decat.

You need Edward Quick Stainless Decats, Edward was the TVR factory exhaust designer and knows what he is talking about and I believe his are the only decats which are dyno tested to get them just right.

Just read your post on nissansportz from when you went to a tunnel run and had the decats installed, is the car generally quieter at cruising speeds now and just louder under load. I wouldn't mind having a few more crackles and pops and a little louder exhaust note when goin through a tunnel, I was surprised how quiet it was first time through one.

Hello,

It has a number of benefits, it does not "boom" like it used to inside the car and better when not underload. The car is also cooler as the heat is not building up in the cat which were direclty next door to the legs of the passenger.

Car pops and bangs way more than it did before. If you get the car right up the rev band (7k+) and change right you will get it to fire. Some think this is pops and bangs - there is a serious difference, face your mirros down, go down a lane a night and see the flames if you get it right.

What is your nameon Nissansportz?

Paul......

Hi Paul, Quickies decat units are indeed a lovely piece of work, however, they are not the only ones which were dyno tested during development. smile

I have just made the return journey. Hated it without cats, low on torque. Feels much better now and a decent sound rather than the chavvy tinny sound.

Agree, a noticable hole in the mid range post de-cat. I did hear it could be written out with a re-map (can't confirm though)

Stuart, feeling like taking on the "max power" world today?

No tinny noise on mine but I am guessing this is down to what shape of Decat you have in?

Mine will definalty not sound tinny in about 6 weeks time wink

Not personally, as do not fancy my nuts being cut off by the wife. But one of my mates has kept in touch with her and her father (both from Northern France) who filmed it.

It was ready nice to meet complete strangers and have a laugh, we ended up having some breakfast altogether.

A group of us heading to Le Mans again this year and I think someone is giving her a lift down. Lucky Bugger!!!!

I have not go one mate, just googled searched his CATS and it came up so had a look biggrin

Totally agree that different de-cats make a different sound, I've heard some I dont like but these maybe on 3.6 SS where as 4.0 SS seem to have a deeper idle note.

As to power and torque I would of thought you would loose a little low down torque but gain peak BHP, although the graph on TVR POWER seems to show an increase in both for the 4.0ltr cars

Thats the problem, I would rather have more low down torque and wouldn't want to sacrifice that for a little more peak BHP, the speed six engine produces good BHP anyway it's poor low down torque that it suffers from especially the standard 3.6 engines.

IMHO smile

Ha! What a brilliant name. "Fast Eddie" to his friends no doubt!
Anyone on here know how to reach him?
