Wicked, a nice package of events to show the Ferrari drivers what a real car is - bet these Le Mans wins are making those bitter car enthusiasts who think "yank cars don't handle" take the old plastic sports car seriously.
Nige: why not put a few stickers on your car and sneak into the actual race. When the "mystery driver" wins just say "I owe it all to the 383 twin turbo that seems to have found its way under the hood!"

We are booked on the Eurotunnel 10.30 on the Thursday. There are several meeting up points over the weekend if the past few years are anything to go by
I would suggest: Thursday night in the trackside ACO bar for night practice, Friday morning Arnage Corner, Friday evening in Arnage village ( always a good crack ) Saturday morning track laps ( hopefully), Saturday noon at the champagne bar - Any other suggestions???? Also the GM trackside parking at the Porsche Curves?

As always reliability will be the key. Pit time is critical and last year the Vettes and Ferraris would have been on the same lap at the end had the Vette not spent 30 minutes longer in the pits than the Ferraris.
My biggest concern is the gearbox which has proved the achilles heel in the longer races over the last year.

err not strictly true, indeed not true! The Prodrives were say 2 secs a lap faster. So after 120 laps they would be a lap ahead. With say 320 laps done in the 24 hours and allowing for normal pit stops, they would have bested the Vettes by 2.5 laps

Actually Nige I have just had a Mars, and very nice it was too. I didnt have access to the final average data, I was going on qualifying times and the general position running up to the race. Interesting though, I wonder how the Vettes cut the difference; were they able to go longer between pitstops? Although I was at the race, I took my young son for the first time and it was just too hot for him, so I did not get to see that much of the race. I had a recollection that at one stage the nearest Vette was several laps down but perhaps I am wrong on that. Anyway coming back to eating the smug tart. At a second a lap my maths still tell me the gap would have been greater than a lap, ie 1. something but it's too late to work it out! Please email spreadsheet, I would love to drool over it while watching Richard clean his car yet again.
Ah, just read your email again Nigel, 1.06 laps eh. OK .06 is not much; in fact if you lined up 173 C5s end to end that would just about equal .06 - so sounds like an honourable draw!
Interestingly in 2000 the Vette average time was 3m58.6secs, considerably bloody faster than in 2003!!!

Yeh,yeh, yeh - so speaks the man who has just spent £s and £s and a shipment of Meguiars with a different potion for every part of his car...............
