Hockenheim Eurovette Meeting 9-10 July
Discussion
Have spoken to the Ramada Treff today about booking some rooms for this and they are reserving 12 rooms for us, if we need more there maybe more available. I have reserved 8 doubles and 4 twins.
If you want one of these rooms please contact the hotel via email at hockenheim@ramada-treff.de and quote booking reference CCCUK and specify what type of room you want and also give them your credit card details to guarantee the room, they shouldn't charge you until you check out.
I will sort out details of the Eurotunnel crossing early next week.
Plan is to travel over on Friday the 8th of July, spend the Friday and Saturday nights in Hockenheim and then travel part of the way back Sunday and stay in France or maybe Belgium depending on what we decide to do and then catch the Eurotunnel back early evening on the Monday.
For those of you that don't know the Eurovette meeting is organised by the Swiss Corvette owners club www.scci.ch and they rent the Hockenheim GP circuit for the weekend.
This year they are planning on having circuit racing on the Saturday and then drag racing and slalom racing on the Sunday. I did the circuit racing last year and it is not like a track day in England, over there, you are racing against other Corvettes and also Vipers. Some of the cars are ex-race cars and are extremely quick. However, they have a number of races for all types of Corvettes so if you have a C1,C2 or C3 you would be racing against similar cars, they also split the cars into standard and modified classes.
The cost for the racing was about €400 last year but they also do a Show and Shine and there are also parade laps of the track if this is your thing.
All those that went last year thoroughly enjoyed it so if you want more details please contact me.

Just 'cos you couldn't follow a bright yellow C5 in the rain did you end up doing a tiny weany little detour, you all got to the right hotel eventually! The fact that Malc and I were already onto our 3rd pints when you arrived is not my fault

No one could see a bright yellow C5 due to the fact that it was always blocked out by a black C4
On the basis that I can find the Hotel again, I have booked it as suggested by Nige - awaiting their confirmation and room rate (minor detail).
As regards what to do on the way back, I thought about Nurburgring but their website shows it as being open only from 17.15 to 19.30 on Monday 11/7 so that's no use.
Nige, what Eurotunnel are we going for??

Bloody comedian - obviously not enough to do at work.
I meant both ways or are we starting this year with the Calais/Folkestone leg to make navigation more interesting. I was going to try and book The Eurotunnel with Dave Evans' mate who supplied the Le Mans crossings very cheap but I need to know the times. I've already booked a hotel in Folkestone for Thurday 7/7 so the earlier the better going over.

Those of us who went to this event in 2004 had a great time (much of which was posted on this forum) even though none of us had been before. The fact that this year's group is made up almost totally of those who went last year speaks volumes for this event. What is odd is that no-one else fancies coming along.
WHY NOT GIVE IT A WHIRL - YOU NEVER KNOW, YOU MIGHT ENJOY IT...........

Well said Viper no mates, It was a really good event last year and we all did have a great time despite the bad weather doing its best to spoil it on the outbound journey.
I have been looking forwards to going again as much as Le Mans, maybe even a bit more.
Do we know who are in for definate so far ??? I guess VHR will know. I know FranV8 is interested in this as he wont be doing Le Mans this year. Anyone else from Kent interested, or is it just myself again???

Got an email today from a guy in Scotland who is a C3 vette owner but is taking the repmobile, but he went 2 years ago and enjoyed it so much he booked to go again this year and didn't know we were planning a trip!
He is going out Friday a.m. and returning Monday on the Eurotunnel and staying at the Ramada Treff, sounds familiar doesn't it!
