Regarding my S4 being welcome in Southern KCC, my S4 has been welcomed in every Kit car, or Classic car club I've ever attended. The only negative/slagging off I've ever experienced towards it is from within the Lotus 7 club itself, including and especially on the L7 forum BlatChat where even the Management team condoned and even encouraged the slagging off posts towards itfurious When I retaliated towards the BC posters who slagged it off I had my posts edited/removed and finally after over 2200 posts on BC I've been banned from BC for saying my bit.
You work it out coz I can'tconfused
But enough about the negatives of BC and the L7club. Any petrolhead will appreciate an S4 for what it is. Compared to an S3 it's a mega rare car, one that NEVER gets mistaken for a Robin Hood, Westfield, locost, or any of the other S3 copies which proliferate. I've met many former S4 owners, seeing my car always brings a broad smile to their faces, and all comments towards it have been positive.
I'll never sell it - I love it's distinctive lookcoolthumbup

Standard rubber E type jag lower mounts bolt onto the chassis[2holes & still used today on caterhams], and bespoke S4 mounts bolt between 'e type mounts' and engine. Fraid you'll have to buy or make these yourself, depending on which engine you're fitting
Hope this helps

There's a photo of the engine mounts in the S4 parts manual, it's also in the Redline reprinted 'Pink' book under S4.
>>>>>
The parts linked to on ebay look like a good buy for an S4 owner whos cars had a smash, Not so good if you're thinking of using them as a basis to build an S4, there's loadsa [expensive] parts unique to the S4 missing, the wishbones shown are not original S4, but they may fit OK.

Now I'm a confirmed S4 Aeroscreener, BUT was recently offered a new pair of 'Later type' lower S4 sidescreens {see Photo], these are as common as Rockin' horse poo [having been unobtainable 'New' for many years] so I had to acquire them - my 1970 original S4 'cloth' Sidesreeens though in great condition, were far too tight to use comfortably with my shoulder girth, but the later type have an extra 50mm or so of Shoulder/elbow room, which is really tempting me to try using the car once again with the sidescreens and full windsreen [and maybe even the Hood & Heater] in placetongue out
Winters arriving fast so it must be a Winter time jobsmile

What's everyone else got planned for their S4's this winter??

ps
Chain smokin's not good for your health either especially since S3's don't have an ashtray unlike the more civilised S4tongue out

Good to hear from you all the way from Belgiumwavey
Was your car originally the red 'WPH' registered road test car driven in the Autocar & Motor Road tests in 1970??
Did you buy it off 'Mike'??
What work needs doing to the car to make it roadworthy?

Nice to see your car has the original S4 steering wheel, something that's normally misssing from S4's, it's well worth gettting it sorted, is it Leather or Plastic rimmed??
I hope you have the centre horn push coz that's something which is impossible to source now, I had to make one for my carbiggrin
I notice your car is also missing the handbrake lever, do you have the oriignal Handbrake lever with the car?

Yep It was for sale when I was looking for a car about 8 years ago, I believe it was in Florida, almost flew out to take a look at it, but after enquiring about the shipping costs to UK, I passed. I have several more photos of this car if you're Interested.
Guess I'll never get to see it nowwavey

Hi Andrew
Nice to hear from another S4 ownerthumbup
The original S4 Windcreen supports were cast out of a light alloy 'Monkey Metal' as was the screen surround. Making new originals of these to OEM spec will be difficult in the extreme, I've made several parts for my S4 though I wouldn't attempt to make the windscreen supports, they are so distinctive and unique to the S4, and would look very naff unless done to perfection. An easier route would be to use the current Caterham/Lotus 7 type windscreen and supports. I've seen a coupla S4's using these, and unless you're an S4 expert/lover these would be perfectly OK IMO.
Good luck let us know how you get on,
Mal
