If you're wondering how that cheap (<$20) camera that people are talking about on BlatChat looks at the track, here's a short video of me spinning in the superb Algarve race track. I'll post a pic of my ingenious camera mount if people are interested:

Holy crap! Less than a twenty dollars? That's incredible quality for the price. Could do with a better sound... don't suppose there's a way to plug an external mic into it?

It is that very same one. It's raining now, once it stops I'll take some snaps of my camera mount.

I have one of these which I paid £50 for from Scan Computers in Bolton. My brother bought one from Ebay for £15 inc delivery from China frown

There are some differences though. The more expensive one came with a Micro SD card and has a cast aluminium case which feels very substantial however the cheap one is very light weight plastic and as a result feels flimsy.

Output is good on both. Initially I had a problem with the playback on mine as every few seconds the picture jumped. It turned out to be a faulty Micro SD card which was replaced by the manufacturer, Veho.

As for mounting them to your car. Just be imaginative using tape (I use masking as it doesn't leave any sticky afterwards!

I got mine yesterday and I'm very happy with it, especially for £10.31 including postage from Hong Kong. It took about two weeks to arrive. No Micro SD with it so got one from Scan yesterday (Collected) 8GB for £14 although if I had been patient and waited for one to be posted, I could have got one from Play.com for £10.00. For £20 - 24 it's a little bargain. You can buy the whole thing with a 4gb sd from scan, but it will cost you about £56.

I got mine for about £11 a few months back. I fix it like this and an example video from Mallory Park can be seen here. The video quality was better before it was uploaded and I don't think the wet lense helped! I've not tried using it since then so I'm not sure if the wet weather killed it or not.

Just put a bid on one, lets see how it goes.

So I need a Micro SD card, 8GB max?

How big an SD should I buy, does the video take up a lot of space quickly?

How long will an 8GB card allow you to record for?

Want to buy one for the Le Mans trip this year in the ult but will need at least 2 hours recording time probably...

Not too sure but I have been told that an 8GB card will do approx 2hrs which is plenty for a track day.
7day shop are also doing an 8GB for about a tenner but get the class 4.

I just bought another one off ebay for 9.96 one for forward and one backfacing you get some handy little bracket with them too.
Cheers

The mini MD80 digital video camera is amazing quality and value. The buttons are small and fiddly but the picture quality is very good. The sound is a bit tinny though. It comes with a small application called AMCAP which I have not gotten to work yet, One thing though when you have mounted it how do you adjust its position? I suppose you use a laptop so you can view the picture.

Mine came today but I forgot to order the MicroSD card! I'll get that ordered and then try it out.

Where are the best MicroSD deals at the moment, I was hoping for an 8GB card.

I've found SDHC cards, but will they work with the videocamera? I've herd that SDHC won't always be compatible with SD devices.
