I'd have a go! It can't happen yet, TF would want too much money for it. Can't be long though.

To update this thread, I'm the author of the recent articles published via Skiddmark.

I'm pleased that this morning, I received an email from David Ridley, Caterham's Chief Commercial Officer, answering two very simple questions I posed via email before the publication of the follow-up article "Science and Fiction".

Dealing firstly with the facts:-

R600 Championship

David tells me that Caterham took the decision at the beginning of last week to postpone the new R600 Championship until 2014, citing "economic conditions". He went on to assure me that all drivers who had previously committed understood and supported this decision. It is Caterham's intention to run the two factory cars in various races across the continent this summer, with professional and experienced media drivers alike.

SP/300.R

If you wish to place an order today, the car is available at £67,500 plus VAT (£81,000 inc VAT) and can be delivered within 10-12 weeks.

I will again, later, write to Caterham's management and PR team to suggest an informal sit-down in the next few weeks where we can openly discuss points that I have raised in my previous articles, together with key comments and concerns that have been expressed by the Caterham owners' community across this and other forums. Let's see if this is the start of a bright new era.

SP/ 300 R £81,000 for a machine that's too heavy and underpowered to compete with a SR8 what a joke !!!

I suspect that for buying new, the SPR comes between the SR3 and SR8 - probably closer to the 3. Which if it is a bit quicker than the 3, but not as quick as the 8, makes sense in pure monetary terms.

For £80,000 you will be closer to a standard SR8 the deal my friend did on his SR3 you could only dream off when purchasing a Caterham

Things were a little different two years ago. A fully specc'd SR3 at list price is over £100k and the prices have firmed up.

You right they must have increased their prices quite a bit because his standard car was nearly half that price two years ago
