Just heard from Caterham that my kit delivery has been moved forward to the week beginning the 16th June. I feel like a big (fat, old) kid waiting for xmas.

Anyone know where i could buy an advent calendar to help me count down the days? smile

Yep, Supersport R but I wussed out and ordered it with full windscreen/roof and heater. Even caught myself looking at heated seat pads the other day. eek

Rort1 - a fine choice sir! What spec and colour did you go for?

Sounds like a good idea to me smile
If you want to use the car when it's not hot out, you'll want that heater! I'm glad I've got one!

Congrats!

Are you both building them?

Where abouts are you both located? Mines due in kit form sometime in July/Early august. Please do a build thread so i don't have to make all the same mistakes! smile

Love the SS R. If you are going for this though, why go Windscreen and heater? Curious why you not have not gone with the Roadsport with the 2.0 Duratec? Did you want the LSD?

Good luck with the build; I'm very envious :-)

I opted for the viper blue with a smattering of dyno-rod orange lipstick (nose band) to make it stand out a bit!
After hours of deliberations and reading blogs, diaries and posts, I am going to build and went for the lowered floor and qr wheel to ease access, fia roll bar for the track days, heater and weather kit for the road days. Thinking I might also get some nice 13 wheels and carbon wings later if budget allows....there is quite a tempting selection of bling available I've discovered!

I'd originally planned to go for the Roadsport 175, but when I specced it up with the fancy bits i really wanted (LSD, wide track, black pack, tilletts and proper harnesses), it actually worked out over £1k more expensive than adding the creature comforts to the SSR!

Fine choice. smile

I spent ages trying to decide on colour. I felt like I should really go for a bright colour as it totally suits the car, but it wasnt really me. I delayed deciding until the last possible minute then reverted to type and chose the neutral, inoffensive Titanium Silver with carbon nose band. I'm toying with the idea of adding a Balboni stripe down the bonnet once it's built (wide white stripe with a thin gold stripe offset to the right). It looks pretty good in the rudimentary (i.e. hamfisted) photoshop i did, but will see how i feel once the car arrives.

Spec-wise, i went down a very similar route to yourself. Lowered floors, QR wheel, FIA bar, heater and hood, 13" wheels with the wide rears, and proper 6 point harnesses (only cost £20 extra a side). And because i'm a sucker for carbon, i added in the dash and nosecone too. Will look into cycle wings at a later date, assuming I avoid bankruptcy/divorce/nervous breakdown during the (probably very long and sweary) build process.

23 days and counting... smile

I think most people go into a showroom thinking of Roadsport spec comfort but like the salesmen say it is cheaper to upgrade the 'comfort' bits rather than the mechanical bits. I ignored Callums advice and said I'm more interested in touring and comfort but having driven an SV 125 BHP I definitely wanted more power so it will be a SupersportR BUT at the expense of the weather gear initially as my budget won't allow both rolleyes:

Ahh, finally made your mind up then! Are you going SV after all?

I'm curious, did you get a ride in their supersport 140? If so what did you think?

Yes it will definitely be an SSR for the torque and almost 100% an SV, colours are either metallic green or solid with the new type yellow/white stripes and probably just bonnet/scuttle and nose cone and ali the rest with BIG chrome headlights. More of the classic look!

I called Anthony for a test drive for this week in the 140 & 180 but worked instead. I'm in no rush as Ideally I would like to sell my yacht at the end of the sailing season having just forked out 3K for this seasons mooring etc. I'm afraid I always take months to research boats & cars before I buy. It took 8 months for my new Defender and over a year for the right boat but that's half the fun for me!

I have also been researching Series One Land Rovers, Alvis, JaguarSS saloons, 1930's Rolls, AC ace replicas, SAAB 92's, Sonnets, Nortons, Scotts etc etc and even going back to a SAAB 96 2 stroke for some smokey fun BUT it always comes back to a Caterham simply because I am finally tired of old bikes & cars, getting them through MOT's, and paying someone to do body work and more involved mechanics. I have for instance owned 11 quirky SAAB 96 V4's over time and I still love em but I'm finally tired of their upkeep. It will be so nice to jump into a reliable modern classic where all the mechanicals are tip top. A press and go no worries fun motor for a change that I hope to keep for many years.

The funny thing is that even when I mention my choices on other Land Rover or SAAB, bike forums etc many say GO FOR THE CATERHAM which just shows how widely respected they are wink

Have fun with your build UREMAW asnd keep us posted smile
