Time for another group buy, this one has been in the making a little while now

Black

They are standard fitment VX pattern, no wobbly bolts at all.

TMS have produced a set of lightweight Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2. The front track is widened 5mm to allow for more space for AP brake upgrades.

Front is 195 x 50 x 16 ET 20
Rear is 225 x 45 x 17 ET 35

I have just been offered a set of the same Pro Race 1.2 wheels in the following offsets, for as little as £457 per set:

(7x16 + 7.5x17)
Front is 195 x 50 x 16 ET 25
Rear is 225 x 45 x 17 ET 30

TMS said:
Weighing in at only 7.3kg's the front wheel saves over 3kg's in weight over standard so turn in is far better. The 16" size means a wider choice of tyres can be used including track tyres such as the Toyo R888 and the Yokohama AO48. Standard OEM wheels severely restrict tyre choice and overall handling upgrade routes. The standard front wheel is only 5.5" wide which means that the maximum safe tyre width is only 175mm. Opel also only specced the 17" front rim for aesthetic purposes, the VX220 (like the Elise) was designed around a 16" front wheel for optimum performance - the VX simply handles better on 16" front wheels.

These wheels are already used by a few members of this forum with no problems at all and by a lot of people in France. Having researched the slight variation in offset the general consensus was it is not even possible to notice it the change is so slight and even if it was, a marginal increase in the track width is beneficial. chinky chinky

I've got a deal from a member on the Swiss Speedster site who works at the place who supplied them to people in Europe.

The prices begin at £520 per set and down to £457 for an order of 20 sets.
The price is for delivery to one location in the UK so will need to be collected or sent out.

For what it's worth I think it's a damn good price and will be getting 2 sets for myself, that just leaves 18 more to go :P

Would be very interested, but the Tax man has just cancelled Christmas for me.

Also, the silver wheel look a lot bigger than the others.

Quick question - I'll probably be buying Thorney's AP brake upgrade in the Spring - want to get some wheels for sticky tyres but the wheels will *have* to be compatible with the AP brakes in the future.

Also is this purely for the Pro Race 1.2 - I actually prefer the design of the Pro Race 2 (the 5-spoke TD wheel)?

What's the catch - TMS are selling the wheels for £300 more...

I don't know to be honest, either way it's not difficult to move a set on later.

I guess the other design can be done too but I'd have to check.

There's not any catch, Thorney paid more for tooling and wasn't even aware the wheels could be sourced in that size, he also has profit to make.
