So who has ordered the new S550 Mustang?
Discussion
i have ordered!
such a impulse buy. only even thought about owning one last sunday after seeing the orange one at sunday service at goodwood.
amazed at how affordable they were and went from there.
have gone with Deep impact blue and ceramic interior all the options but no PP.
been quoted 9 months but not expecting it until this time next year!

Sorry but i got 29.7 mpg on a 75 mile run if i knew how to put pictures on here i would take picture of computer and put it on. I did the same 29.7 mpg on trip out and back same route.
That's a snapshot at the time. I could say I got 35mpg on the 140 mile run I did but it isn't true. Rest of the tank went into town traffic and averaged out at 28.5. You need to calculate full to full, that's the only way you'll get a true reading. As for buyers remorse, nope. I prefer the ecoboost, it's a much easier car to drive (imho), I had a GT for 4 days, it wants to kill you every time you start it up. Besides I do 80% town driving, financial suicide in a GT.

Just had my first week in my new GT vert now done 350 miles
For those interested in my observations:
1] On a run no problem with getting 30 MPG
2) Just a few rattles from the door trim (i think) it sounds like a crackling fire.
3) Turning circle is a bit wide !
4) Cant figure out how to tune the digital radio into pre sets…..looked at every video i can find.
5) Its very comfy on the motorway wind noise from hood is minimal.
6] The sync sat nav is a bit slow and doesn't have all post codes in, had to use phone / google maps for nav.
7) Owners manual is pathetic and the wallet…….come on Ford you can do better, surely !
8) Heating ventilation side works well
9) Brakes are very good nice feel.
10) Lights don't seem that powerful……is it me ?
11) Not took it above 3k yet so can't comment on performance.
12) Steering handling, well I'm just learning how to drive it but no nasty surprises to date.
Thanks for these. For those interested in my observations:

How is the rear seat headroom? I'm hoping it's better than the coupe.

It may be a snapshot but it's a 150 mile snapshot. If that's the only trip he did every day then his average for the entire tank would still be the same. The point is, a 5 litre V8 in a big heavy Mustang is still capable of returning high 20's, possibly even into the 30's if driven carefully. That's pretty damn impressive and a poke in the eye for those saying we'd be lucky to get out of the teens.
As I mentioned elsewhere, mine made 22MPG, calculated, over 255 miles and the loud pedal got pressed properly more than once.
80% town driving though and I would never have bought a V8!

Heard a couple of people saying lights aren't powerful enough, mine look ok. I know the bulb was knocked down from 35w to 25w so they didn't have to put a wash & levelling system in.
That's a shame, another area of cost cutting this time resulting in inferior lighting as now being reported by many in the UK. Loads of decent cars in the UK selling for £30k and less now have LED headlamps with wash and levelling. Centurion07 said:

VXR8 will crack 30mpg on a run, same with the 300C Hemi. Sitting in traffic as you often are in the UK with the display showing single figure mpg is not so good !As I mentioned elsewhere, mine made 22MPG, calculated, over 255 miles and the loud pedal got pressed properly more than once.

Are you sure about that?
Yes 100% sure, if they'd left it at 35w euro regulations say it has to have wash & auto levelling . Since that would probably involve a lot of extra work (redesigned front bumper?) the simplest solution was to drop the bulb output. Even at 25w it's still perfectly acceptable for me, my Volvo S60 had xenons and I can't say I notice any difference .Big__G said:

I agree. I don't see this as cost cutting, I see it as Ford wanting the car to have HID rather than crappy halogens so that was the solution. If we'd had washers imagine the bhin about the bumper, given how excited we can get about a number plate mounting! I love the LED lamps on my Mondeo but they are a £900 option (but they do get you out of having to have a headlamp wash). 25w HID is still way over what you could legally fit as halogens.Big__G said:

Nice. Yes I've seen some screenshots over on Mustang6g and people are getting similar MPGs to what I get from my ST. I test drove a GT the other day - very impressive. I just need to work out the costs, such as how many rear tyres it'll eat, before purchasing. For those interested in my observations:
