Great pics of the yellow one chaps, thanks. I can feel the enthusiasm and excitement coming through in your words which is highly infectious smile

They promoted me to get in touch with my dealer who can see the order on their system now - so I just finalised my spec as:-

Race Red
Black Roof
Heated/Cooled Seats
Rear Sensors
Shaker Pro

He confirmed that the price to pay will be price as at order time, not current price list.

Spec gets locked in and thereafter not changeable on 14th June.

We're getting closer!
Well as much as sumpoil likes to bang on about the GT350, I prefer to bang on about how crap my dealer is, so....

So your dealer has told you the orders are locked in on the 14th June, and here I am, having paid my deposit 25.01.15, and I've STILL not had anything official from ANYONE, never mind from Ford nor have I been told I have less than two weeks to make up my mind for the final time! banghead

Time to pay them a visit tomorrow methinks!

Steiom/fellatthefirst - are those champions league cars or 'normal' orders?
It's a normal order. Placed in March.

For those still interested in my ordeal, especially david b if you're still reading this thread since you ordered from the same dealer....

I popped in today to check on "progress" to be told exactly what I feared; still no news of any kind. So the "new" salesman (the guy I originally placed my order with left shortly after scratchchin) gave me the name and number of the Mustang guy at their Reading branch which is the Ford Store for Gowrings dealer group.

However, that was after he'd gone away for a couple of minutes to doublecheck on my expected delivery date, which he seems to think would be....wait for it....MARCH NEXT YEAR, having placed my order on 25th Jan this year! I told him since not only have other customers elsewhere had contact from Ford themselves, which I haven't, that some of you have not only got build numbers but expected delivery dates of oct/nov! Not to mention he knew nothing about a lockdown date in June for final order specs either.

So david b, if you are still here, is there any info you can give me regarding exact dates of your order/email from Ford/expected delivery etc etc?

TL;DR: my dealer, Gowrings of Basingstoke, I think are trying to cover up a fk-up with my Mustang order. Not happy.

I don't think you're the only one your position, to be honest. I think the FordStores that have recently had the car on display have more or less been forced into action because clearly there were going to be customers turning up with awkward questions. On top of that, I'm still not convinced Ford really have any kind of definitive plan of action with regard to build dates/shipping/delivery. I think any dealer telling you anything about delivery at the moment is basically making it up. If it makes you feel any better (and I realise it probably doesn't) I actually hope mine DOESN'T turn up 'til next March - if I get a car at all that is, I've still not had any official email or anything to say I definitely have a slot reserved.

I'd just say, keep pestering Gowrings .... phone

Oh, I plan to.

Thing is, I'd accept the fact they don't know anything if it was just that, it's the fact that I've not had an email from Ford either when lots of others have, both those who ordered before AND after me, and it's not just been a few weeks, it's been FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS, so his excuse of "they're sending emails as they go through the orders" just doesn't wash with me.

Although like you I would prefer to get mine around March/April next year, the impatient kid in me wants it ASAP and I don't want it to be because they cocked my order up and I certainly don't want to be handing over £35K to a dealer that can't even pass an order up the chain in a timely manner, after all, if they can't get that right what trust can I have in them as far as anything else goes? frown

Why should a Ford Store help a none Ford store even if in the same group, when i initially asked my local dealer he said to go to a Ford store which I did, dare i say you should have done that as well.

Mentioned earlier that I've been invited to an 'unveiling' of the new Mustang at my dealer on Monday. Got another call today from the sales manager double checking that I was coming and he wanted to make sure that my order was correct as apparently it has to be done in the next few days.

What surprised me is that they have had 60 orders for the Mustang and expect Monday to be a busy night.

BTW it is a US GT that the dealer has bought and imported.

As it happens I've just had an email from Gowrings saying that the Reading Ford Store are now looking after all the Mustang orders (which I thought would be the case anyway), and have been given a new contact there who will be looking after us with updates etc.

I went to see them a couple of weeks ago (mainly to check they had the order correct as the original was hand-written on a generic UK order form - it was all OK to be fair to them!), and although we weren't shown anything on the Ford US order system (and I don't have any ref number etc), they did clearly have a bundle of customer's order paperwork, and our order is now on a proper form. They were still stating the same on deliveries, i.e. after the Champions League batch, the next would be November-ish, and therefore with shipping to the UK it would be Dec/Jan (and our car should be in that batch). Certainly don't have a quoted delivery date.

As others have stated, it was also mentioned that the price had gone up £1k but we would definitely only be charged the original quoted amount from January when the order was placed.

pm me if you want to compare notes!

Read this forum with interest. Some great stuff being discussed too. I've ordered the Ecoboost, deep impact blue, shaker, heated seats but kept the black wheels. I've had my email confirmation after I placed an order at Trust Ford, Warrington in April. They rang last week to confirm spec & said that was my final opportunity as it is now on the build / order system. No news on delivery dates though.

Yeah, had I known it might cause an issue I would've!

Never having bought a brand new car before, and with very scant information about at that time, I naively assumed ANY Ford main dealer would quite easily be able to deal with a Mustang order. rolleyes Plus, the guy I initially dealt with told me that it was still undecided at that time as to which branch was going to be the official Mustang dealer; either them or Reading, so he was quite happy to take my order, understandably.

Anyways, in other news (FAO david b), I had a call from Martin at the Reading branch after my sales guy sent him an email AND I called him as soon as I was out the dealer's door this morning hehe basically saying what you've heard, namely he is the guy to contact from now on (seemed very much like Basingstoke was washing it's hands of the Mustang orders, customer service or nothing in it for them I don't know) and he gave me a dealer order number: L006x, and confirmed my car is scheduled for a Sept build, with delivery around Nov/Dec time, depending on exactly WHEN in Sept it gets built.

What a fking runaround!

Ta.

Might see about popping to Guildford on Monday too since I've not seen one in the flesh, much less got up close and personal with one.

Phew. Good news Centurion07, you can relax a touch more this weekend.

Way back in the early pages you may recall my local non Ford Store dealer happily took a deposit from me just after the pricing was announced.... It took a good few weeks for them to then admit that they couldn't actually really order one, and so i then went angrily to a Ford Store.... I was really worried that was happening here on a bigger scale, but thankfully just looks like poor communication.

So, it's exciting our orders are getting locked in, a milestone i guess.... Hoping thereafter once build dates are allocated the timetable will start to firm up... Oh, and some detailed info on the car would now be nice eh?! smile

Awesome, that's good news smile sounds like there is finally a bit of organisation appearing from the chaos... Should mean ours is due at a similar time too. Now have to decide whether to wait until Mar to get it on a new plate hehewink

After so much time waiting I don't think that's very likely tbh...

How would that work then? I can't see the dealer wanting it sat around for 3 or 4 months even if it's been paid for, surely?

No, probably not (also never had a new car so not quite sure how it works!). If it got into Feb before they're delivered it might be worth waiting, but sod that if it arrives remotely on time!

Well, just when you thought it couldn't get any more comical ........

So, although the original options list was quite short I was pleasantly surprised when it was extended to include black roof and OTT stripes. Now I was thinking some nice OTT stripes would give the whole thing a bit of a classic muscle-car look. Great, I thought. The re-issued price list had a nice picture too ....

.... lovely. Exactly what you'd expect OTT stripes to look like, right? ...... well, not according to Ford who now seem to think that new Mustang owners would prefer their OTT stripes to look like this .... and from the re-issued, re-issued price list I give you .....

WTF!, right? .... I emailed my dealer and asked for confirmation that this was a bit of bad photo-shop editing ..... but no. This really is (apparently) what Ford are offering. Would anyone actually go for this? I think someone at Ford is taking the pcensoredss.

So, if you're pondering the stripe option be warned ..... apparently they do indeed 'fade out' at the front and rear.

Un-fucensoredking-believable.

Pleased to hear you got there in the end. What a palaver though!

I've set my expectations in the gutter, so anything else is a bonus, this way I save a load of stress. I ordered an Alfa 4C years ago and went through a similar roller-coaster of emotions, and in the end cancelled the order as a result. That was actually a worse launch than the Mustang believe it or not.
