GAH! What is it with the other IDIOTS on your team?! Started on the top/right position on Westfield in my T25 AT destroyer, went to hide in the bushes right in the top corner for the inevitable heavies coming over the ridge, got a good couple of hits in... when an AT8 on my team pulls directly in front of me, blocks the next couple of shots and calls down the arty on us as he's hanging out the bushes and I can't get away in time My first ever rage quit!
Arty always shoots in that cluster of bushes because that's where all the TDs go on the enemy team every single time. I prefer to go into the village and hide in a bush near the start of the viaduct as it gives you excellent views of their side of the map, plus the hill on the other side of the viaduct and behind their cap.All that jazz said:

I don't normally go there either, just for a change. I was ready to move at the first sign of spotting/random fire, but that's hard with an idiot on your nose...I decided to look up this Quickybaby guy, and watched his 11,000 dmg JagdTiger replay, I quite liked it.
Ok, so I see in one of Quickybaby's vids he calls artillery "scumbag", and says it takes no skill, it's just point and click. I can only completely disagree! There is never much arty on the 360 version as they are so pathetically useless. The splash damage is non-existent, if you miss a tank by a foot you might do module damage if you're lucky, otherwise you get nothing. Even landing a shell on the top deck of a tank, square on often does little damage. Case in point that no one is bothering with them, I've just bought an M7 Priest for a laugh, I did one match where I landed a single hit and got 2 or 3 spooted target hit bonuses and scored 400 or so xp, and that was enough for a Mastery Class III badge.
I can imagine that super-powered arty is just as bad as the pathetically underpowered, no splash arty on the 360, it's needs a buff for certain, but it must be balanced. That said, playing as low tier arty is especially frustrating when most of the field is made up of TDs and scouts that are very quick and don't tend to camp.
Case in point, I just landed a hit square on the back of a KV-1, not the turret, but the rear deck engine cover. Now I know the M7 Priest is a tier 3, but the gun is a 105mm howitzer. I did a whopping 17 damage. Wtf.

I watched that 11K damage JagdTiger game last night funnily enough. Man he was lucky in that one.
I've played hundreds of games in arty on the past and the only real skill is being able to hit a moving target. I don't play it any more as it's pretty boring and far too RNG dependent.
Many arty players use XVM to single out the best player on the other team and spend their entire game trying to nuke them. Decent players like Quickybably, Circonflexes etc understandably get a little tired of this.
Plus, since artillery has little in the way of heath points there's reduced XP for the winning team.

Sounds like you're using HE to me.
Yep, 40-66 penetration, which is barely competitive on it's own tier. From a quick read on the net, SPG took a big nerf in late 2013, which would explain why they never bothered to make it good in the first place on the 360. Why nerf, when you can make it gimped from the start?Mastodon2 said:

The issue was too many RT in matches - all they had to do was limit it to a couple of vehicles each match. Instead they nerfed it into irrelevance.TEKNOPUG said:

It's a big shame, it seems a glaring problem to me - entire lines of vehicles made nigh on useless. Surely Wargaming can see from their data that people aren't bothering with them, maybe WG would rather they weren't in the game at all, problem solved. The genie is out of the bottle now though, so as you say, they've been nerfed into irrelevance. They still exist, but they're so weak and pathetic as to be mostly inconsequential to a battle.I should add, I play tanks because I enjoy them, not because they are "good" tanks. The Tiger for example, is difficult to use and not spectacular for it's tier, but I love playing it, because I enjoy the second line, snipe and move tactics. I'm struggling with the Priest because it just feels so gimped. Back to the Tiger!
It seems like there has been a small resurgence of Arty of late, the frequency of matches with 3+ per side seems higher. Certainly though Arty is not much of a fun experience in the lower tiers - the many small & mobile targets, relative innaccuracy of the guns and low alpha even on hit make it a bit of a chore. I didn't really get much from it other than a frustrating change of pace until I got to the tier 6/7 bracket to be honest - although I've only really done the German arty line so perhaps they aren't all like that. The tier 7 GW Panther feels pretty effective though, unless RNG is really unkind.
I think it would be a shame if it ever were to be removed, it adds another dimension to the game. It can be annoying as hell when you feel you are being focused by enemy artillery, but very satisfying lighting up and tracking a target only to see it get nuked by friendly arty fire.

Anyone else having issues with aiming in sniper mode. It's as if the game has a 'snap to grid' option on and I simply cannot make micro adjustments when aiming. The result is me taking ages to aim at someone which usually sees me shot.
I've checked online and have the client side reticule and dynamic camera turned off. It does look like I'm not the only person suffering with this problem though.
I've turned the detail down to below medium (cheap graphics card) so I'm on around 70 fps. It can't be that, can it?

I've Hit KV-1's for 2 and 4 HP before, repeatedly, in the Priest. Ferociously overstated(by the Devs) armor. bstb3 said:

Lots of really soft skinned and OP German TD's. Arty is the natural counter; assuming you are allowed to hit them by the RNG, massively damage is common; one shot kills, 98% damage, destroy almost every module on it, etc.I think it would be a shame if it ever were to be removed, it adds another dimension to the game. No armour at all so pretty much every shot penetrates and does max damage.

I get the same issue. It seems to have a snap to object filter; I was trying to shoot through a window and it would let me target the top or bottom of the frame, but not the window itself. 11 games in a row without a win was enough.
Lightweight 11 games in a row without a win was enough.
I can go dozens of games in a row without a win!
More seriously, try platooning (with people you are in speaking contact with, pointless otherwise) or joining a clan.

I'm still getting into the game and can go ages without a win too.11 games in a row without a win was enough.
Have some terrible matches and some great ones.
I'll look into the platoon and clan suggestion.

I had about a dozen games in a T25 without a win last night. Some when I was rubbish and got killed stupidly. Others when I had killed 7 and we still conspired to lose....
Had a really weird match where our team killed all of the other team apart from one player. He camped near the enemy base and waited for our team to roll in. Five tanks approached the base and the one enemy player killed all of them, one after another. It was utterly bizarre and very funny to watch.

I've played a game where we have had 6 v 1 and all gone to cap. The 1 enemy left was a StugIII in cover, with a clear view of the cap. He proceeded to pick everyone off and no one could spot him....
I've had similar in Matilda and T18's, when last man standing but have realised that none of the enemy have suitable guns to damage me. Then it's just a race against the clock.

It was only a tier II and III match I think.
He was literally behind a rock next to the base, so wasn't even using cover. That is why it was so funny. He popped out, shot someone, hid, popped out again etc.
