Lowe: had one for ages. Like many of my other tanks, it used to be good, maybe a little OP even, the gun felt superb. Good fun facing off against KV-5s, as the KV generally couldn't pen the front of the Lowe and the Lowe went straight through either the R2D2 turret or the commander's ring on the KV with no trouble. It's main drawback was speed... it's not called the sLowe for nothing wink

These days, it's still not bad, but with battles for T8 tanks sometimes including 6 or more T10s, and a bit of power creep in many trees, it's not the battlefield monster it was.

When I need credits - a really bad game will get around 20,000; a good one can nett well over 100,000 - I play it every other round (assuming it's not "in battle" still), but otherwise I've got many tanks to grind and it's a bit of a garage queen.

Well the Tiger with the big gun is ok. I still dont like hiding in bushes in a heavy but its one option I guess.

Now my IS-8. wow. OK not much upgraded , and TBH no chance of that unless I spend on converting XP.. The gun is horrid, its main issue is it cant ever aim at the enemy, no depresion or lift etc.

Does anyone here play, or own the Löwe? I've been seeing them around in the odd game, trying to justify owning one etc. There is a deal on at the moment for August called the "Call of Cthu-Löwe" where they're selling a the tank plus 30 days of premium for 12,000. That sounds like a lot of cash, I suppose it is, but I love the look of thank and I often think about having one as a credit printer and crew trainer. I know it has a bad rep as a lot of wallet warriors buy them up and jump straight into tier 8 matches because the Löwe is one of the biggest, nastiest tanks you can buy from new, but with 2000+ games under my belt now I like to think I could play one without embarrassing the tank!

I've also been thinking about getting a TOGII for a laugh, though that's much cheaper at 3500 gold. Maybe I should just get a year of premium time and grind out non-premium tanks, and wait a few more months to buy a Premium...

Either way, thoughts on the big German prototype?
I can't speak for the Xbox version of the Lowe but I am sure it isnt much different from the PC version.

It isnt actually a bad tank at tier 8 since it got a buff a couple of patches back. The hull is squishy and it burns if you as much as sneeze at its lower plate, but it has a very good turret and decent gun depression. The turret isnt at T34 levels of toughness but it still gets the job done.

It is painfully slow however so you need to plan ahead what you intend doing with it.

The gun is pretty good however at tier 8. It is very accurate, decent pen but a slowish reload and the alpha damage is average for tier 8 heavies.

All of this makes the tank more of a sniper than a brawler but it is a better tank than people make it out to be.

Compared to the T34 I wouldnt say it was better, but it is different.

On a different subject - there has been some discussion on Circonflexes mod pack and blue enemy tanks. I am not keen on this scheme either but found it easy enough to change the colours in the xvm editor. However this time round I have gone with Anfields mod pack instead. It has ticked all the boxes for me without having to faff about in the editor.

Job done.

All that jazz

If you want a good premium credit earner you can't go wrong with the E25. Good little fun tank with the rammer installed, basically an ELC on steroids.

Not played the Lowe but have an IS6 + JT8.8, both are good fun in different situations!

Lowe is like a sniper/support heavy, from what i have always heard. T34 Turret and gun are ridiculous though!

I don't know about Prem tanks but I'm finding my T7 SU-152 to be a great money earner. It has such low overheads - the whole tank only costs about 5k to repair and the HE shells are dirt cheap. Regularly make 20-30k a game on a standard account. Compare that to the T9 Tortoise which I can barely break even on and usually costs me 20k a game....

I have the tier 7 premium Soviet TD, the SU-122-44 which is a capable beast and makes a decent amount of money. It can be played quite aggressively and with it's mobility you can go hunting down damaged tanks late on in games.

I also have the tier 6 premium TD, the SU-100Y which despite being big, cumbersome and having paper armour is really deadly. (230 games / 387 kills kinda deadly). You can one-shot Hellcats if you fire HE. I had Quickybaby in my sights with it once, but luckily for him he was on my side. biggrin

Combined they are good crew trainers. One of my two soviet TD crews are on their 4th set of skills now.

Another benefit of premium TDs is that they don't lose their camo bonus when firing, which regular TDs now do.

I think that instead of going for the faiLöwe (which I will buy eventually), I will instead get a Tog II, a parking pass for 10 new garage slots and I'll still have enough gold left over for another lower tier premium, I should have about 1700 left, so I will probably buy a Russian lend-lease Premium tank, to serve as a crew trainer and credit press to fund my Tiger II, and if possible the E-75. After that I think I will work up to an IS-3, before thinking about getting a premium account.

Non Premium T8 Heavies, what to go for?

I've got or had pretty much every tank in the game T1-T6 bar the Japanese so I can work towards most tanks. The only T8 Heavy I've had was the T-32; coming from the T29 it was massively under-gunned for tier (same top gun) so I sold it and went M-103 ASAP.

Lots of choice but I don't want to spend shed loads of games getting to a tank that disappoints (I'll get them all eventually...), thinking IS-3 or Caernarvon, I have the prior tanks in both lines and think I'll make the required XP faster in the IS than the Black Prince, but is the grind worth the pain for the Brit one?

It's a much shorter grind to the IS-3 (77K XP) than to the Caernarvon (110K XP).

Although the IS-3 is bit lame without the BL-9 gun (another 44K XP).

Does not happen often but one of those games that gives satisfaction especially when the last few in the team work together.
Really enjoyed this. http://wotreplays.com/site/1073825#self

Foiled, no TOGII for me tonight as the card on my Xbox account has expired. I'll have to put the new details in tomorrow night and buy the tanks then. fking arse biscuits. On the other hand, it gives me a little longer to research which other premium tank will be joining the garage with the TOG.

Good luck with the IS3, great tank however personally cannot do well with it.
Do not play it often may be that is why however do not enjoy playing it.
Yesterday won 5 in a row however I was carried, mm was in my favor.
