I really shouldn't have looked at this thread. My brother and I used to have King of the road which was a much more arcadey game compared to this but you could still buy a fleet and drivers etc. Found it incredibly addicted.
If I buy the xbox wireless adaptor thing for the PC would that make my xbox wheel work with it too? Its the official force feedback one.

Downloading the demo now to see if the games works on my PC before ordering the xbox adapter!

I bought this not long after the OP posted this thread, I'm now some level 70-odd bloke with 10 trucks and a base in the UK and Poland.

The Volvo (well, used to be Valiant until the latest patch) trucks give the best VFM, they start off at something like 600hp, where most others are 400-450hp and they're pretty cheap too, I think a basic one can be had for under €100k.

Nothing monster PC wise but I do have two 448 core 560Ti GPU's in SLI.I was messing about with using both to power it all, or one dedicated to FSAA (gets rid of jagged edges) and enabling FXAA and x8 CSAA etc in the Nvidia options. The rest of all the game options are on the max the game allows at a 1920x1080 res.It does slow down if I turn the scaling up to 200 or more though!
The demo runs well enough on my 8800GTS, with everything on apart from HDR, weather mirrors and shadows on medium (those things all look fine really). Does feel it's dropping under 30fps occasionally in heavier traffic though. I had problems getting it working at first, it kept causing crashes when changing graphics settings and froze in-game a few times, but seems to be running smoothly now.

I can recommend starting off in Europe instead of the UK btw. It's more varied and interesting, plus you get used to driving on the wrong side.
Yep, have been sticking to european jobs so far. I got the demo to try out, but will definately be buying, I'm loving it so far. Took great delight in pulling off my first single-carriageway truck overtake on one of the roads east of Strasbourg biggrin I was following him through the twisties as you would on the racing track, I had to bail out of a few attemps but eventually made it by, the risk of the t-junction I did it over made things more exciting wink

Finally got the steering sorted by using my trackpad and got up to Newcastle with no incident and then almost back to London with another load then some stupid old MLM stopped on the motorway and I hit the barriers avoiding him. All my profit lost in repairs frown

Funny thing is my 10 year old remarked that my shouting at the screen is the same as when I'm really driving.hehenono

Guys

If your looking for mods that work, use this site and this site only:

http://www.gamemoding.com/category/euro-truck-simu...

Ive spend too much time playing this (over level 30 and various drivers and garages-yes I have no life!) and researching the mod sites but they all take you to links and seem to have viruses, which is a shame as some of the good ones I've seen arent on the above mentioned site.

One mod you must download is the 120kph speed limit, its great but just be careful with the heavy pressure tanks or you'll end up on your side far too much!

Hope that helps.

Any link for the 120kph mod? That site isn't the easiest to navigate.

Cheers Adam, I'll have a look tonight.

Right you mother truckers!!!!
What is the route to follow as far as company growth goes? I've tried to hire a driver but have been told I need to expand my garage! Can't see any option for expanding garage in the management menu!

Thanks in advance 10hrs in and loving it.

You need to go into Garage manager. Select the gararge, then click on upgrade. It's in the top left of the screen under the picture of the garage. Or you can buy another garage in another city and put them there.
Obviously you'll need to buy them a truck too and assign that to them.

I found the simplest way to grow the business was not to drive my own trucks buying them for the other drivers and i drive other companies trucks. Reason being is 3 fold:

1) If you use other companies trucks you dont pay for your own fuel and the other big key difference is that if you have a crash then the other company pays for it. Yes, you will have a reduction in your profit at the end but its no where near the actual cost.

2) If you drive your own truck and want to take the best paying jobs, you may find more often than not that you have to drive long distances just to get to the depot where the trailer is, which costs you time, money and to me-crash costs and speeding fines!rolleyes

3)The good news is that the Drivers you employ wont ever crash you trucks!

Hiring drivers-dont worry too much on who you hire and their 'abilities'. You will find that it will take time for them to get jobs, but they will level up fairly quickly. The trick to getting them earning as much £ as poss and changing their abilities on the Truck Driver Screen from 'Balanced' to 'Long Distance'. Reason being, long distance driving generally pays more than the others!

Unfortunatley its a case of looking through each page. Dont let put you off as once i started i ended up downloading all kinds of trucks, skins and trailer mods.

But, if your patience wont run that far i think the 120kph is near the back of all the pages wink

I've just gone into this.....You need a minimum of £180,000 to upgrade the garage!!!

That's gonna take some saving up, plus then need to add another truck! Might have to rethink my fancy roof spoiler and 6 wheel upgrade Until I take on some more staff.

I took out all the loans to upgrade the garage initially, I am on level 19 and now have 4 drivers in my home garage. Two drivers are now earning 5k per day each, the others are not far behind so they cover the loans while my loads are profit.

I does take over a bit, I started with MAN trucks, now all my drivers have FH16s all in the same colour! I too have a FH16 but with the bigger cab, 6x2, 720 hp and a load of spotlights.

I am not really into games but I am enjoying this!
