AAAAARRRRRRRGH

Limerock park, 4th on the grid (1220 strength) avoid the first corner carnage and end up third. Chase him down for a couple of laps and he makes a mistake. Brilliant 2nd place. the leader is fast though and getting away, I opt for the steady finish option as the guy behind is dropping back.

19 laps and I'm still in 2nd 19.5 laps - Disconnected, unacceptable throughput! I said a very bad word....

Still got 3rd though!

Only been playing a week and had three sessions in the MX5 Cup at Lime Rock so far. Down to a 1.00.9 best but massively inconsistent, more often in the 1.01.05's (when it stays on the track). Not going to risk a race just yet!

A good plan I think. I think I jumped in too early and despite trying to be slow and steady, my safety rating is below when I started now!

Just bought Oulton, Spa and interlagos.

Got to say a little disappointed with Interlagos after all the hype. Spa more than makes up for it though, that circuit is immense!!

Finally got my first win at Lime rock after I started in the pits too!

The MX5 is a great little car and I've sent it round at 1.047 fastest, I've no idea how people get below the 1 minute mark!

I've just embarked on having a custom paint job for the car from one of the communities painters/designers.

What's Oulton like? Tempted to get the UK tracks now.

Spa is excellent, I agree. Only tackled it in the skippy, must try the Star Mazda smile

I'm also hugely tempted to get the British tracks but it'd be annoying to use them really rarely / sporadically, a European Tour sort of calendar would be great!

Had a week or so busy away from the track but hoping to get more time in, whilst preparing for Le Mans biggrin

I figured there would be some cash involved in doing that. How much would it cost to do a full scored season in a custom championship?

Just done my first MX-5 time trial at Lime Rock, whoaaaaa is that circuit a wild ride when you're giving it some, I think the start-finish straight is the only place the car is ever completely in line! Enjoy it very much, but I can see maximum attack for race distance being completely impractical, I'd start making mistakes eventually. Done a 1'01.065 so far, how about you guys? smile

1.01.9 is my best with a race average of 1.03 and best lap of 1.02.

It's that right hander up the hill that I'm losing time on. I've seen people take it with no brake but I try that and i'm in the barrier.

1.00.04 is my best, but not consistently. The right hander up the hill rewards the driver who leaves a bit in reserve, so easy on the way in, make the time up after the corner. I do it without braking, lift well before, turn in and nail the throttle. To late and you'll meet the wall on the outside, too early and you'll hit the kerb (and then likely the wall on the outside!). The wheel must be straight when cresting otherwise you'll be swerving when you land.

Now, the next corner, cannot get that one right!

Cheers for the times, guys!

I think you're right about that corner, Firecracker - go in too hot and you'll scrub speed as you start to climb at the exit. I think it does reward a slightly slower entry and power on early, but God do you need to keep your eyes ahead to make sure you're straight over the crest! If I've got it right I'm doing 86 or even 87mph at the steepest bit, where the speedo holds as you climb, if you see what I mean. I do dab the brakes on entry, marginally after turning in, to get the nose in nice and sharply.

The next one is a bugger because the high kerb on the inside means you really need to get the turn-in right - too early and you'll mount it and bump speed away, too late and understeer again. 85mph minimum speed there. No idea how fast you can take the last corner as I did it 1mph faster every time and didn't fall off, so let's see if it'll keep going past the 97mph I've tried hehe

That first section is great. Swapping from four-wheel slides one way to the other, balancing with the throttle the whole way.. driving

Personally i find the hill corner a great challenge and always good fun.

I tap the brakes as i turn in, which causes some oversteer which help me around the corner.

With this technique i have achieved a 59.xxx lap time.

My technique also. Turn in pretty early and the oversteer with guide you onto the apex, Can take a fair bit more kerb than you think, just be prepared to gather it all up going up the hill. I think my fastest lap is 1:00.2 or something with a optimal of about 59.7
