I think what's interested me most about Assetto Corsa is comparing the cars I've owned and tracked in real life (2-Eleven and Elise) and the cars I've driven (Exige 4cyl, Exige V6, BMW E92 M3, Evora S) with their sim equivalents and validating from that standpoint that the sim is accurate (I even compared lap data with the 2-Elevens), and then going on to drive other cars that I've only dreamt of owning and not driven in real life. Following on from that, if the realism extends to the likes of the 458 and MP4-12C, then Kunos have just made my dreams affordable, because in the sim I genuinely prefer driving the Evora S to any of the other GT/sports cars, like the 458 or MP4-12C.

It's a bit of a wait but I suppose it takes a fair bit of time to do a circuit that size.

I really hope Suzuka gets some more votes, that and the ring in AC would be fantastic. I voted for Brands Hatch as well but I'm nowhere near as bothered about it as the other two.

Those were my votes too: the Ring, Suzuka and Brands. Brands just because it's my local circuit and I've tested, raced and trackdayed there loads, so it'd be nice to have it. So many sims get Brands wrong, so it'd be nice to have a proper laser scanned version.

Tbh, they need to stop adding more cars and tracks, finish the ones they have properly, get some actual racing happening and optimise the game better for resource use. It's very much style over substance in my eyes at the moment.

That said, the Z4 round Imola was fun the other night. smile

I was a bit undecided on the last vote so thought I would go for a UK track.

I remembered having a lot of fun on TOCA years ago at Brands although I think that might have been the shorter circuit, so that swung it for me.

Unfortunately my local circuit (Knockhill) wasn't on the list and probably never will be, although it was in TOCA!

For me, I voted on the tracks that are either difficult to scan or build. Le Mans, Bathurst & Nurburgring. With the platform allowing custom tracks in the future we will more than likely see the shorter tracks made by modding groups etc.

Really really want Multiplayer now though, hotlapping is only fun for so long.

I've only had a few quick goes over the last week - very nice sim, very impressive and great fun with the G25, but my times are bad - it has been a while since I've raced on GTR, rFactor, GTL etc. It is very realistic and I haven't really played with car setups yet but I am bored of hot lapping already - I can't wait for multiplayer, but I'd settle for AI in the interim. The drift section is fun for 5 minutes, but not really my thing. I was holding out for Project Cars (I think Q4 2014), but I hoped this would be out first.

Damn it!

AC is downloading from Steam as we speak and while out shopping for dinner just now, a Logitech G27 happened to end up getting purchased...

That's the wheel and pedals I have and they're fantastic :-) Logitech stuff is very well made and the G27 is perhaps even better still :-)

Don't try the Fanatec pedals then.... The V2 ones with the hydraulic brake and ABS rumble are another league!

I still use my G25 over my Fanatec wheel though. Too much no load resistance in the Fanatec.

OK - First impressions.

Let's start with the game.

Obvioiusly not fully realised yet but it looks pretty good with everything maxed out. The modeling is great. Cars look good. I'm guessing you can only use the cockpit view? Ah, one thing that drove me nuts was the track brightness/reflection. I was having a go at the Lotus Exige SC/Silverstone combo to see what sort of times I could get compared to you lot (2:38 somthing after half an hour or so) and I couldn't see half the apexes because of reflection. I tried changing the day time to all sorts but it never really improved - 5pm in the evening seems the best I could get. Only seemed a problem with Silverstone tbh.

Sounds - some of the cars sounds brilliant - some sound a bit flat.

Handling physics - I like. I like alot! Seems realistic and predictable. When you get out of shape, you do have a window to get it back but if you're not fast enough... Just like real life. I hope that when we start 'racing' the collision dynamics are smart - I don't want to end up being punted off at 90 degrees from a bit of door rubbing like the console game see to do.

I want racing asap - I hope limited classes start to appear soon.

The steering wheel - Logitech G27 - quality. Much better than anything I've had previously. Well put together and the controls seem nicely weighted; however, I'd love to have a progressive brake pedal. I suppose that would cost lots. It mounted on the desk nicely - very secure and while I'm having issues getting the pedals to stay in position (tiled floors) and my chair to stay in position (fking tiled floors), that's not the fault of the equipment. I love using a clutch and shift. Brilliant!

End note: I'm enjoying the cars and tracks, but I have to say... The Lotus 49 at Monza 1966 is simply superb in every single way.

The progressiveness of the brake pedal seems to be a bit of an issue with Assetto Corsa at the moment - some cars, like the Lotus 49, are just ridiculous. Hopefully they'll improve it. It's worth playing with the 'gamma' value in advanced control settings in the meantime though.

I've set the gamma to the lowest value (using a G25) as it would lock up with only a few mm of travel on the brake pedal, no matter which car I was driving. With the gamma fully reduced there is now some amount of braking that can be modulated before locking the wheels.

I had the reflections issue on Imola - when the sun was very low it cast long shadows and crazy reflections. I liked the way depending on which way the car was facing the dirty screen would show up more - just like real life I guess.

No, there are 4 - bonnet, bumper, cockpit and parachute.

Fixed the pedal issue in true Heath Robinson style smile

2:35.7 something for Silverstone and the Lotus SC now. Getting there.

Also just worked out the App thing on the right hand side of the screen. Much more info now.

Edit: 2:34.440. How are you guys getting on? I'm using Pro settings.

Anyone else have issues with the RSR Live Timing App? I've downloaded it, put it in the correct file etc... and it simply doesn't register. Nothing - not even an error or conflict notification - just nada...

Anyway - my aim is to hit the 'first page' for any of the car/track combos I try.

The Fez 599 is a beast! Only problem is it makes some of the other cars seem very boring.

Extremely unhelpful, but it works fine for me... I can hit the first page of any car/track combo, but only in cases where there is only one page... Currently trying 458 and Imola and I'm miles off...

Double check that the files are actually in the right folder - the zip is designed to be extracted in situ, not copied in from elsewhere, so it contains the folder structure within it.

The meat of the files go in: SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\apps\python\RsrLiveTime\

and the icons go in another folder that slips my mind right now... (they won't stop the app working if they're not present though).
