Yeah I know, just don't trust forums not to bugger up. I'm from the X-Files school of life. Trust no one, or ANYTHING for that matter. ]; )

Although there are three admins currently, I think we need more, anyone who would like admin rights, please create a multiplay account and I will be able to add you to the list (Same goes for Ian and Slaney please who are currently using my account) this right will be restricted to donators so if you haven't donated already, hurry up and do so.

I'll put my name forward, I'm on alot in the day as I work shifts.

I'll sort an account out and let you know the details. I think I might have created one when I first donated though, although I've no idea what the details are!

  • Edit to add... is it worth considering making it a passworded server? Change the password every week or something? If we've only a month to run at least we can guarantee we can work towards something. There are about 8 of us now, plus pedro & co have 5 in their squad. I'm sure with a bit of advertising on the dayz forums (& vetting of course) we could have enough people to make it play just as good as it normally does. Food for thought...

Something else I think we should consider is severely limiting the ping... I don't think I've seen one hacker on our server who had a ping or around 70 or under. Is there a way we can create an exemption for Asterix?

I saw mention of that on the forums, around 80% of banned players are from Russia..

Its against the rules to have a passworded server frown.

If you let me know your email address that you used to sign upto multiplay I can add you, you can pm me if you'd rather.

Have you any idea exactly what's involved in running your own private server entirely?

For the amount that Multiplay are charging it's getting on to be more than what a dedicated server would cost per month that was capable of running it. From reading some stuff there apparently the private ones people are managing to set up are faster, and you can password, do what you like etc.

It's obviously possible, as people are doing it, but I don't know enough to make a guess as to what it would take, or whether it was feasible.

A dedi to run this game would be about £180 a month, we're paying about £55, the private servers you see are not connected to hive and as such our gear wouldnt be transferable.

It does look like hosting the whole lot yourself (it looks like it's just backed by a mysql database) solves many of the issues that make the game st, including the speed.

Shame I was so far out with what the pricing would be.

Is it really not an option to have a passworded server? From what I gathered on DayZ forums they're turning a blind eye to it because of all the problems. Sounds like we may have some more contributors onboard too according to Ian.

Found crashed chopper south west on coast with DJ Cheese's body next to it. Strange to him to have chopper 1 restart after the hacker blew it up.

OJ and I came across "Soar" just across road for Balota airstrip, he opened fire on us in the bus! The cheek of it! OJ got the kill and he had a radio on him which is hacked in isn't it?

Seems so yeah, but there's no reason the guy couldn't have picked one up from someone, it doesn't mean he was. I read on the forums they didn't have a problem with people who find stuff (how are you to know unless you look it up on the net) only people who spawn it.

I know, I'm just making sure it's noted so it's something to keep an eye on. If someone kills him again and he's got another one then evidence starts to mount up.
He was in Ghillie with I think every item on tool belt but using one of the AK types. It maybe he just spawns all the tool belt items and Ghillie and then plays normally. Or was lucky and killed a hacker at that airstrip and looted the body. Only had starter backpack.

Yeah he had a full tool belt, an AKM with 6 mags, some pain killers, an M1911 and 5 mags.

Was good fun flanking him and taking him down without any losses considering he had cover and plenty of time to take us out but lost me completely. Used the rail track to get around to his right and killed him at about 100-150m.

Not avoiding you Ian - TS wouldn't load up so doing a restart. Also, just found downed chopper with stanag ammo box and M104. Back on shortly.
