One thing this game lacks is a freeplay mode (unless i've missed it?)... Last night I just fancied a drive around to see how much carnage I could cause driving down the motorway the wrong way... Sadly, damage doesnt appear on the cars you plough into.. Offroading was fun though until I got a little too far from the road and hit an invisible wall..

Only problem now is I have to pay various fines and have a 95% damage truck that wont start and needs recovering laugh

Btw... 2.8ghz Core2Duo, 4gb ram running an XFX Radeon 7750 2gb. Allows me to run at 1920x1080 res with medium detail and AA off. Looks very nice. It does struggle on max everything.

Love the game but I succumbed to using cheats. I now have 25 Garages and 88 drivers and trucks - making a profit of $733,000 a week. Also have a 2500bhp engine with no speed limits.

Gearing only allows for 90mph (see below) although I think there are mods to change this. To be honest though 90 with a full load is hairy enough!

Playing on a work laptop HP Elitebook with Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo) with Intel GM45 graphics card and 3gb RAM so graphics are a bit poor but still playable.

2) If you drive your own truck and want to take the best paying jobs, you may find more often than not that you have to drive long distances just to get to the depot where the trailer is, which costs you time, money and to me-crash costs and speeding fines!rolleyes

Adam
You are clicking on your current location on the map and only doing Jobs running from that city aren't you? Furthest i've had to go to a job was about 11 miles to a quarry.

I think the varies.. I've been in Sheffield and the highest paying contracted job is in southampton. There are pretty much always some going from the same city though.

This, do this.

This is really awful, I'm completely addicted after 4 hour's play last night.

I'll be at car shows in a blue Scania jacket and caterpillar boots in no time at this rate frown

How do I get short runs? I'm getting bored of Grimsby->Cambridge since there is a set of speed cameras along the route... Also I wind up having to overtake at least 3 people round corners and it's getting fustrating.

Rest available are heading to Amsterdam.

Yup, thats it. I've been trying to do this as much as possible and so far it's been working well.. almost always something going the way you want to go and the only way I can see of making money easily.

Make sure the job you want will be available for long enough though, I did that last night only to find the job wasn't available any more once I got there! It was only a few minutes away...

As an aside, the trucks handle really well without a trailer hehe

Long runs, where you are doing 800km+ in an autobahn and then through the alps at 02:00 whilst listening to some dodgy European radio is what makes this game. I end up doing a stretch after a long drive as I come into the destination, as well a doing trucker things like trying to eat, drink and send texts whilst sat on cruise control.

Which makes it all the more irritating when your AI drivers don't back-haul... "xyz was unable to find a job and is returning empty"

ranting

There is a lot of annoying stuff about this game.

Headlights - I'm getting fined constantly for headlights not on. Really annoying, and the game won't allow me to put the lights on to stop it. Can't even put them on at night to see where I'm going...

Speeding - it's a fecking 66 pound NIP in the post, not 500 and something instantly...

crashing - some idiot rams you up the back, and you get a 400 pound penalty. Just not right...

Ai traffic is stupid, braking for no reason, never doing the speed limit, speeding up and then slowing down, blocking overtakes, accelerating while being overtaken and going up the inside while turning left at junctions and other stupid stuff. Why...

Handling - overreacts to steering inputs when going slow or stopped, overreacts to steering corrections and then their corrections and the brakes don't work properly. Also, how do I turn off the stop start feature...?

That is strange, I tend to just leave main beam on all day and at night, currently have 10 spotlights on the front so very bright. I think "L" button turns them on, "K" turns on main beam.

After all my waiting, Amazon had not dispatched it. They apologised and will send it to me asap, but the expected date of delivery is now Friday!

I will no doubt get this game on the release day of ETS3. irked

Guys

If your looking for mods that work, use this site and this site only:

http://www.gamemoding.com/category/euro-truck-simu...

Ive spend too much time playing this (over level 30 and various drivers and garages-yes I have no life!) and researching the mod sites but they all take you to links and seem to have viruses, which is a shame as some of the good ones I've seen arent on the above mentioned site.

One mod you must download is the 120kph speed limit, its great but just be careful with the heavy pressure tanks or you'll end up on your side far too much!

Hope that helps.

Adam
Cheers Adam, I'll have a look tonight.

Right you mother truckers!!!!
What is the route to follow as far as company growth goes? I've tried to hire a driver but have been told I need to expand my garage! Can't see any option for expanding garage in the management menu!

Thanks in advance 10hrs in and loving it.

I've downloaded the 120kph speed limit one, extracted and placed it (.scs file type) in the mods folder...my truck is still not going above 55mph.

Any idea? do I need to do anything in the game menu to activate it?

Hmmm...not sure why, but all i know is that you may need to reload the game if youve added the SCS file to the mods folder to activate it.

Have you put it in the right folder? Should be under

\users\(username)\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\120kph.scs

(or whatever your filename is. Also ensure it's "mod" not "mods", you should get a message pop up saying that the game contains unauthorised modifications at startup if you have done it right)

Y2Blade, how are you starting the game? Are you starting from safe mode?
When i started from safe mode (due to my poorly spec PC), the mods are not loaded and i was unable to pass 55MPH. As soon as i started with the normal icon, i could go faster than the limiter.
