PD make me laugh. There are so many things that people moan about with GT5 and so many things that could make it different or special that they don’t do, but they do spend the time to make sure that the landing screen for GT5 plays Jingle Bells to me on 24 Dec. nuts

I might. Last time I just couldn't get to grips with the track / car combo (a 370z on something built by the track builder) and I think I was something like 37 thousandth in the UK or whatever. That probably equated to last. But I might give it another go.

I'm finding it a pain in the ass! 1:53:870 is my best so far. Certain I can get gold at least but can't see my ability stretching to below a 1:53something and there's plenty of areas that I definately know I can go faster but just keep crashing out. I'm only on a controller, rather than a steering wheel, I reckon it's alot more advantageous on a wheel and throttle pedals where you can vary your throttle more than on-off-on-off on the controller.

1:45 is the fastest by a German, no idea how they did that???!!!

Edit: just done a 1:53:123 and I'm ranked 752'd, lol. Going to try a go with manual transmission. Won 20million credits though for the gold!!!! eekbiggrin

bks I missed that event.

Went in for the change time/weather one. Three laps to beat 16 cars... fried my inters after the first lap then got punted off by an AI Skyline pace car!

Swore very loud. Would have chucked a joypad through the TV, but was using a wheel, thankfully. ; )
You havem't missed it have you, I think they are all there until the 10th of January.

I need to try harder as you guys getting sub 7:50s within laps have made me feel really useless as I'm not sure where I can pick more time up, I think I need the confidence of actually posting some legal laps and then building the time because I think I probably drive the first 3/4 of the lap fast enough, then get a bit scared about binning it so close to the line and start to back off a bit (then bin it anyway, usually on the right hander before the mini-karusel.)

I'm wondering whether having all the aids off is harming my times on this one.

The C7 test is classic 'slow in, fast out'.

Assuming you're using a pad rather than a wheel, get your braking done early and in a straight line as the car doesn't like trail braking with the fixed 5/5 brake balance (I suspect it would be much better with 5/7). Try and brake gently too - not mashing the button! Then coast through to the apex and blip the throttle on the way out to avoid oversteer. The key is not to push the front too hard on the way in or the car understeers like a boat and stops you picking the throttle up.

You can pretty much avoid 2nd gear for most of the lap - a brief downchange to 2nd does help turn the car on some corners, but you can flick it back up to 3rd on the apex, reducing the risk of oversteer and hardly losing any exit speed.

You could leave traction control at 5 (any lower than that isn't really worth using) - I don't think it would hurt lap times too much and would be a safety net. Leave ASM off though as it just kills speed.

Good luck.

ta, I am using a Thrustmaster T500 wheel which enhances my shame yet further but yes I think I am still overdriving it into the corners and losing time as there isn't grip to make any time doing that, rather I am losing time as I am unable to use its plentiful power early enough (although those gears do feel looooooooooong, especially on the climb from the right hander to the hairpin of the karusel, 3rd just seems to keep going!

Cheers for that, will have to have a go tonight.

Sure I'm being thick, but couldn't find this in the PSN store. Where do you download it from?

OK, then you should be able to get gold if you listen to yourself and 'DON'T OVERDRIVE THE CAR FFS!!!!12112' wink

I always find having a faster ghost to chase helps me - though even the 10th place time is now a bit quick to be of any use to me over the 2nd half of the lap (my best is 7:23)... if you'd like a ghost around the gold time I could send you something around the target time to chase.

It's only playable if you buy the Academy version of the game - ie; buy another game disc. The Academy version has an activation code inside.

WTF? The last GT Academy was just a free download from PSN. Wouldn't most of the GT fans bought the game as soon as it was released (without the Academy code)?

What a crock of shcensoredt

It isn't the proper 'GT Academy' - I think that's running later in the year.

It's just a marketing competition to try and help drive sales of the game years after the launch.

That would be ace as it will at least make me learn how I should be driving it, and help me on the ring too where I'm not that great. I tend to hang back a bit too much I think trying to avoid binnig the lap, though I feel committed through the fast stuff. It is Karussel to mini karussel where I lose the time I think based on races where people pull away.

How do you send ghost laps though?

I'll run a lap just under 7.50, trying to be consistent and not have any really fast sectors.

I then save the replay as a fastest lap. Export to XMB. Save on a memory stick. Send to you via e-mail.

You get the file. Put it on a stick. Copy it to XMB. Boot up the game. Import the replay from XMB in replay theatre. Start the TT and the replay will be available for you as a ghost.

I'm away with work until Friday evening, but happy to send something through then or Saturday... will just need your e-mail address via pm.

I love the cascade downhill - ever since a licence test in GT4 using an RX7. But the part after the little jump followed by a tight right is tricky...you can more or less straight line it but if you get the line wrong the camber will throw you off... biggrin

I'm good on there, after the first left where you turn it left a bit late over the brow after the right after the jump, then it is flat, running kerbs on either side, the entry into the next right is evil though and in the C7 TT I often lose it running wide on the exit or spinning it on the power.

I'm worse through the section before, the corners look similar but aren't and I think I'm too cautious and take each corner in turn rather than actually chasing a line.

Guys, need help on the Lambo seasonal event, got all golds except The Ring, 3rd is the best I can get - missing 5 seconds.

Now, I've been reading up on some forums and I don't know how some have the PP to 550 with 580+bhp? It's not possible with mine.

I've tuned it up, pretty much everything Sports with Ti exchaust and that, but to enter the event, I have to decrease my power to 526bhp (89%) to make 550PP (wtf)

Any help?

Thanks
