Can anyone explain what this karma thing is about and if i get bad karma for doing things, what is it that can't do or get access to ?
Karma affects how people see you, so good people will like you if you have good karma and bad people won't, goes the other way too obviously, there's also the neutral ground for when you want to sit on the fence. You can check how your Karma is on the general tab on the pip-boy.

Think it goes from Very Evil, to Evil, to Neutral, to Good, to Very Good. It will affect conversation choices mainly and after a certain time Very Evil or Very Good characters will start getting attack squads sent after them because of their moral choices.
That explains the Talon contract killer squads that I have bumped into. I found their HQ and took them all out lol!

Anyone know how to get to the Reilly Rangers HQ at the start of that mission? (to pick up some guns/ammo etc.). I spent a while last night trying to get to it.
I can get to the tube stations immediately to the west and north west of it but nothing leads towards it. Even a sewer I tried that looked promising turned up a blank. It's annoying that you only seem to walk a few hundred yards and end up miles away. From what Reilly said the mission sounds good (rescue Rangers holed up in a surrounded Hotel).

I couldn't get to it either, you go back there with them after you have done the mission, but I can't remember what route we took to get there.

I did the mission at the hotel before going to the hideout, when you are done saving the squad you get a marker which you can follow to get you there. Top quest for levelling up!
Has anyone visited the oasis yet?

Anyone know how many chapters there are in the wasteland survival guide? Just finished robo factory and Rivet City history, got to go and find a library somewhere and then that chapter is finished. Any more after that? Got myself a robot thing that flies round protecting me too now, he is quality as he seems hard, has wicked guns and you can store all your crap in him! He did cost me a grand though......

3 Chapters and you're done, or you can do as my brother did and convince her it is a waste of time and get a new Dream-Crusher perk.

Think it lowers people's chances of getting a critical hit against you by a fair amount.

library is down south, it crashed maybe 20 times around there, so was saving lots as there are rad areas and lots of raiders, seem to be very close to the max rad limit, so might need a doctor, but realised the time was 4 am again and so went to bed, food first and maybe more game...

addictive ? very smile

Finished the wildnerness survival guide, she gives you a copy but you can't level up with it or anything so seems a bit pointless IMO. Just ventured down to Tenpenny Towers, but other than investigating the Ghouls in the metro station there doesn't seem to be much to do there. Don't want to carry on with the main quest yet, any ideas of stuff worth searching out to do now?

Indeed it does 50% less chance to get a critical against you, was chuffed with myself for being nasty, its so hard to keep it up though!

seem to be mostly good karma, except when pickpocket people and the like, so far not hassled all that much, but got a slaver device some place, so who knows smile

I've only been playing the game this weekend on xbox 360.

How the hell am I supposed to do hacking? I don't get it...

Also, I choose not to blow up megaton but have yet to disarm it, what is the best choice? Burke shot Lucas, and blowing up megaton for a lot of money seems like a good idea now.

When you see the screen full of random characters, look for the short plain-English words. As you move your cursor over them, they will highlight. Try one of them. It will tell you how many of the letters you got right. It's then a process of elimination to find other words that share common letters.

For example, if you tried "GOING" and it said 3/5 right, you might want to try "BEING", but you'd know "GOALS" is incorrect.

Yeah, Id be interested in this too, haven't done anything with it yet. Have finished the survival guide, but can't find all the leaky pipes, and have got a message to Gobs mother. Any other missions to do in Megaton?

Basically you blow up Megaton and you get given an apartment in Tenpenny Tower - Ideal if you're going for the evil character. You disarm the bomb and you get the house in Megaton - Ideal for good characters.

OK I done hacking now smile

The pipes are fairly easy to find they have water coming out like a fountain, but you need a repair skill of 30 to fix them.

I don't think stealing really effects the karma too much, I've stolen a bit, but still neutral.

Its murdering and eating people that seems to get you to evil, and blowing up megaton.

I assume disarming the bomb will give me good karma. I'm trying to stay neutral myself, it seems to give more opportunities.

I've not blown up megaton but still got into the room in tenpenny towers, you have to go through tenpennys room, around the balcony and in through the backdoor, has a robot, safe and bobblepin (?) stand. Does anyone know if I lose the benefit of those items if I keep them on the stand? as I'm not sure if I can get it off it.
