Have to say I'm getting rather bored of having my legs broken instantly all the time even when fighting with a hatchet.

Wow, interesting evening! I found how brutal the game is when I ended up out of water and with a broken leg in the middle of nowhere, I had to suicide as it was taking too long to die of thirst!

Next I ended up with an AKM in Electro and had quite a successful looting trip. I then heard another play creeping around when I was in the pub, I couldn't risk death after grabbing some nice stuff for the first time ever, so I assumed enemy and pumped him full of the (only) AKM clip. Fortunately for me, he had lots of nice gear so I now have an Enfield with lots of ammo (AKM was out), M1911, lots of food and drink, and A MAP!!

The map is quite a let down though as it doesn't show position (am I doing it wrong?) but it makes me feel good hehe

I feel ready to actually play now that I have no need to find anything for a while, my only problem is that I lost a lot of blood.

I'll have some fun on my own exploring the more interesting places like the airports, then I might be ready to join TS and party up shoot

You have to figure out your own position on the map using landmarks tongue out

Don't shoot the Lee Enfield anywhere near zombies, you'll draw hundreds of them to you!

I got lost and I have no idea where I am, I have no water, no food, and I'd just found an L85A2 AWS on a crashed helicopter so I'm narked because it's a great gun and I don't want to lose it! When I log in it says "Wilderness" which isn't encouraging...

Logged back in a bit later and it does have the position marked now, pretty handy smile

Tell me about it, I shot one the other day and couldn't believe how much aggroed!

Wow, nice find! You can find north via stars, the sun position and things like that so I guess if you head SE you should come across something?

Oddly, the map didn't show my position today - odd! I died to zombies unfortunately, random hit from nowhere knocked me unconscious and I didn't wake before death. I had even built my blood back up to near enough 12000, I was knocked out for ages!

I found a compass and some good kit and headed up to Stary, where I was quickly sniped.

Now have a Ghillie and I'm considering heading north a bit later for some more exploring.

ETA This game is so addictive smile

Found where I am! Wooo! Found water, no food. Though with this L85 I am hopefully able to get some food fairly quickly if anyone comes near me without dropping their weapon...

OK, really dumb question so apologies in advance! If I install the Day Z mod can I still play regular ARMA 2 / Operation Arrowhead as well?

Server setting I think. Most servers will not show your location but once you know where you are it's quite easy to follow roads to get around, even without a compass.

Does anyone else keep getting stuck at the "loading" screen once you join a server? I can hear the SFX so I seem to have connected but I'm stuck at this point. So far i'vr only managed to connect once to any server.

I had this initially, I *think* the fix was to do the following:

- backup the original Arma2oa.exe file (default C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\)

- copy the beta Arma2oa.exe file (default <snip>\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\beta\) to the location of the original (<snip>\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\)

It's a good idea to use SixLauncher if you are not already.

I agree, the map is a bit pointless as there are better versions online. I find the compass is very handy for short cutting through woods rather than following landmarks/edges/roads.

Nearly died again after heading north, survived with 150 blood yikes Fortunately the attacker fought my AK with a pistol so he (just) ended up worse!

I found it in a pub in Cherno! I've also found a normal camo suit in a pub in Elektro previously so they can't be all that rare. I do like visiting the pub smile
