Tried it but became fed up of opponents 'vanishing' when I attacked them were they simply logging out of the game to do that?
No they were moving out of your vision range.Have you been able to get a game since 16:00? I've tried a few times but I keep getting server full messages. Wargaming have really dropped the ball, how can they expect people to pay for premium content when they can't even get their servers working and let people play? Embarrassing doesn't even cut it.
Anybody else sticking with this?
I forked out for 12 months live this afternoon just to give it a go. As a bit of a fan of the PC version I am quite pleasantly surprised.
The progression seems much faster than the PC equivalent and upgrade a few of my tanks quite well in an hour or so playing.
I got an abusive message, I'm guessing from an american as it used the phrase dumbass at one point, but as in any form of retaliation I used the strongest response possible

I've been getting a few matches in on this every day, I think I'm at about 730 played now, I love it. It's a shame though, that I'm having to grind experience in a crap tank on the path to unlocking the Tiger II I want so badly. The default gun on the 36.01 that I'm using at the moment is pathetic, the tank is the size and speed of a heavy but the gun struggles to penetrate even other tier 6 mediums. The upgraded guns should be more in keeping with the size of the tank, shame even the first upgrade us 20,000+ exp.
Tried this the other day - seriously what is all the fuss about?
The tanks have paper thin armour, and the guns are ineffectual. It seems I can hammer round after round into a tank and do almost no damage - yet 1 hit and I am toast.
The upgrade tree requires a PHD to understand it and frankly the only upgrade that seems to make any difference is speed.
Maybe I just don't have the patience to grind away at a game for months acting as cannon fodder before I stand a chance of fighting back but it does seem that unless you have the biggest, baddest tank you are just easy points for the competition.

It sounds like you need to get it more than 5 minutes. It's definitely not a run 'n' gun affair like COD, it's a lot deeper than you could appreciate. Try heading to the WOT wiki page and reading the basic tactics guide, there is a lot more to it than just pointing and shooting at anything you see. You need to manage your offense with your ability to stay hidden, pick your targets - different panels on different tanks are easier or harder to penetrate etc. It's not about having the biggest or baddest tank, though I do think that heavy tanks, particularly when the matchmaking doesn't distribute them evenly, can unbalance a match somewhat. Each class of tank is a tool, you have to use it in the right way or you'll feel like a helpless child getting smashed over and over, as you have done when you've played. The tanks have paper thin armour, and the guns are ineffectual. It seems I can hammer round after round into a tank and do almost no damage - yet 1 hit and I am toast.

The upgrade tree is not hard to understand, it goes from left to right. If you want to play in a tank that is further down to the right, follow the white arrows through the tank icons to see the path to unlock it. Pick the tank you need to be in and use it, use the package screen in the garage menu to unlock the necessary packages to get the next tank, both are unlocked wit experience. Silver experience is earned by using a tank and can only be spent in that tank. Gold experience is earned much more slowly but can be spent on any tank.
If you want an easy introduction, get the UC 2-pdr from the British tank line. It's a tank destroyer - a sniper effectively, even with the basic gun and engine package it's fast and powerful. But, as a tank destroyer, it has very little armour - get caught and you'll be dead in no time. Hang back, let your team mates flag targets up for you and snipe them at long range. You'll be racking up kills in no time, especially once you buy the upgraded guns.
I guess it's either your kind of game or not. The 360 upgrade path is a lot simpler than the pc version.
Anyone got a marder on this version. On the pc it was one of my favorites. Packs a hell of punch and if you can face your enemy head on a lot of their rounds just bounce off. Nice.
Been on tonight and had a good 45 minutes. It does need more maps though.

Is it just me that stays near Artilery to protect them??? Every time I roll out as Artilery everyone just runs off to be the hero leaving me to wait for the usual sneaking tank to just pick me off and raid the base!!!!
Have to say though I do love this game, my son thinks its great too, I find the quick game turn around reduces the confrontation with chat, less swearing and more playing suits me.....................although there is nothing better than hearing an American teenager taking it just a bit too seriuosly!!
