Seems like we are all so traumatised by Hockenhiem that we've lost the plot!

We need a smaller course with high speed and close racing to get us all excited and talking up/bollox again....

FORD GT40 Replica by GTD
Finished in totally original Le Mans winning Gulf colours, this cars attention to detail is fantastic. We class it as the 'best of the best', in every respect. Enough said. See our website for full spec. and more pics.

edited to say: just managed a scruffy lap in the GT40 at 2.09........

Had a couple of practice races now and can manage a 2:08 best in the 906 but I'm nowhere near a clean lap yet.

I've been trying a slightly stiffer suspension setup to exploit the handling and brakes of the 906 and whilst it's working, it is much more twitchy than my normal softer setup I may have to switch back to soft for the race unless I can tame it like this

I’m struggling too on this circuit, 2.07 is my best in the 906, but I keep loosing concentration and wizz off into the kitty litter far too often. I think slow and steady for Sunday.

On a positive side I'm having great fun with Misano and Sears Point tracks - they are great and would make a great addition to the league - thoughts ?

I've got those two, know them from other games but not tried them yet in GTL.

PS. Ignore any times on GTL Rank below 1m59s as there are some screwy times about.

With a view to buying? If so then however I think that gives you an unfair advantage in the league, -10 points deduction.

New or second hand? Are GTD still going then - I thought they'd gone bust a few years ago after developing the Spectre R42?

Second hand unless it has been a kit standing for a very long time and someone has only just built it...... as you said, GTD whent bust a few years ago not sure on the Spectre bit as i was not around them for their last years

with a view to buying been looking for a De Tomaso but they are realy hard to come by for the money I have & pretty poor condition

but a couple of these have cropped up at a local dealer and seeing as I was around the GTD factory in Poole alot when they were 1st being designed and tested 20 odd years ago (my best friend was one of the engineers) I know how well designed they are and if it is a factory built one then they were actualy better built than the original (they had an original on tap for the design)

1st had a blast in one round Goodwood, my mate driving, & have never forgoten it, not sure if it will stack up after 20 years have passed & having owned some very special vehicles........but I'm going to go and have a look anyway, the thought of opening the garage door to a Gulf coloured GT40 (even though a replica) is just to tempting...... i feel like a little boy again just thinking about it

I wonder if they are as tricky to drive in "real life" as in GTL.

When Jeremy Clarkson drove an original one he was very impressed with it, the combination of racing suspension and high sidewall tyre gave a very good and controllable ride.

PV...........do it !

YES YES YES YES YES

50fps is about as low as I am going to get now Fan is bloody loud though, needs something doing with it. I think it might be stuck on hi-revs..

By the way, the new comp has arrived

PV, you really must buy that car. If you don't then someone else will and you'll be kicking yourself.

you could replicate it in GTL too. And we could all practice loads in the GT40 in GTL and then go to donington where you'd all let us have a go to see if we can beat our real world laptime. I know you'd do that, you're such a generous and trusting chap.

Right done a bit more praccy down to a 2m03.7s in the Pantera, replay below. Not a perfect lap as I missed the apex into the very first corner, went a bit wide at Piratella and was too cautious on the throttle, a little oversteery slide out of Aqua Minerale and the same on the exit of Rivazza 2, but then I knew I was on a good lap as I couldn't stop looking at my time and my splits (must stop doing that ) That lap was the 3rd in a 10lap fuelled run, I stopped after that one to save off the replay.

I love this track but my best is still only 2:08 in the 906

A reliable race pace is more like a 2:11 though and I have no idea what I did different to get a 2:08

Looks like I will be spending all day practicing

eeek. I am stuck around 2:08.

I think the secret is sacrificing the firdt bits of the first two chicanes to get good exits, then making the apex for the double left hander at the top of the hill, you can carry loads of speed through the first bit of aqua minerale and then you just have to be brave for variante alta. I find that keeping the car on part throttle through there really stabilises it and stops the back end coming round on the exit.
