Backwards compatibility, cant play original Xbox games without having the HDD to install the emulators on. Doesn;t matter to everyone but a lot of us have old games we still want to be able to play on.

HMV are doing that deal with the Rockstar Table Tennis game thrown in too. That's quite a lot for £300!

Can you get this HMV deal online at all (had a quick look & couldn't spot it)? Or do i have to get up and actually WALK to a shop?

No idea mate, I saw it in the local HMV shop. They've obviously chucked in the table tennis game to make it the best offer on the market so I wouldn't be suprised if they don't need to offer it online too.

The bigger question is what TV can accept 1080p over component, not many can (2 or 3?) 1080p is a bit of a red herring anyhow unless you have a large display that supports the resolution.

Well I bought the 299 premium package with extra wireless controller and PGR3 at the weekend from Game (So same deal as Play.com and the others) and I am running it to a 40" Sony Bravia in 1080i (Upscaling), and it looks fantastic, I might go and get Test Drive Unlimited this weekend.

I bought it on Saturday too. It's a pretty unbeatable deal. They were giving 10% off with a store card so I opened one and also £15 worth of vouchers on games and consoles bought so all in I got the thing for about £260!
