Two wins last night and neither count

I'll start practicing earlier this week.

Maybe we should all have different coloured helmets to differentiate ourselves... bags purple.

Shame there isn't a better way... all the ferraris look the same.

Any ideas?

No - there are actually two Ferraris (if you get the GPLEA cars) I had the standard one while practicing, but in the race I was given the slightly different one with slots in the nose cone, more transparent bits and seperate mirrors...

If I haven't downloaded these cars (which I haven't yet), don't the different ferraris get rendered as the default ferrari?

What I was hoping was possible is that there were some seriously outlandish colour schemes we could adopt and download to make us stand out. When I used to play half-life we used to download skins for Kermit, Homer Simpson, Spiderman, Yoda etc. Not only did it aid identification but watching kermit scamper across a clearing carrying a missile launcher twice as big as him was very funny indeed

You can have custom colour schemes, but they will only be visable to you, not the other online racers. What I think you can do though is give each numbered car a different colour scheme so whoever joins the server and is given that car number will get that colour of car. Maybe if everone joins the server one at a time, the numbers could be matched with each driver...

I already had a purple helmet You probably couldn't see it as I spent most of my time upside down.

From my last place on the grid the start was hysterical. Cars flying all over the place and I thought hee hee I'm going to sneak past all this wreckage.

How wrong I was

I've not got round to setting up WinVroc but I thought I'd have a look at this but after downloading it said it couldn't load the reply. Could you check, it may need to the online apps installed to work.

Should work now, it buggerd up when uploading before.

Before I charge down to pc world and buy a logitech force feedback wheel and pedals can anyone help me with a couple of questions...

Does the force feedback work with GPL? How does this manifest itself and does it help or just get in the way?

Do the pedals stay put or do they slide around on carpet?

Does the wheel attach firmly to a desk and if so does it sit at a reasonable height or does the screen need to be raised?

Any other comments or opinions are most welcome.

Thanks,

Mark

Yep, works now. Although most of cars seem to have a lot of suspension judder on the replay (your's when you were on was smooth though, odd!)

How many made it through the first corner in one piece?

The FF in GPL is very good It loads up as you turn into a corner and you can feel it getting lighter as the front wheels start to lose grip. When you've damaged a suspension component you can feel the steering kick back as loads on the wheels alter. If the car starts fishtailing the wheel pulls back and forth as the car swings. You certainly know it if you hit the armco. Really adds another dimension to the sim.
Regarding the pedals - I'm not sure what the new ones are like, but mine have quite a big footprint and don't move around on the carpet (a hard floor might be more slippery, but they do have rubber feet). You can always put something under the monitor if you feel its too low, but I don't find it a problem.

what Andy said, plus, the Logitech Momo pedals have a little carpet grip thing that falls out of the bottom and, em, grips the carpet - they don't move around half as much as the Thrustmaster ones I had.
The height of the thing is huge, the clamp is strong, but tightens into the desk rather than onto it. To combat this I put a CD tray door (clear plastic thing) in-between desk and clamp and it works a treat.

Go and get one, you won't regret it Make sure it's a Momo tho, I don't know about any of the others. Dabs, www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2VRL, delivered next day to me after I ordered it at 17:30 on a friday night!

As long as you don't mind me weaving about the place with my new wheel... assuming I get it working.
