Just thinking out loud from problems I have had in the past.

Have you opened up the pedals and attacked them with a vacuum cleaner?

Do the greasy bits need some new grease?

Has something broken, or come off?

Plug pedals in and remove all traces of drivers, let them reinstall

Try another USB socket and let the drivers reinstall

Check manufacturers website for driver updates newer than those that Windows installs.

Do you have a large hammer?

I've tried everything to no avail.

I look at the brake pedal and it locks up. I think about braking and it locks up before I've even touched the pedal! I've tried different gamma settings, different deadzones etc... nothing helps - that's why I've given up on most of the challenges - it's undrivable for me.

The web doesn't help. Just says adjust the gamma and deadzones.

Guess I'll have to wait until I can invest in a new pedal set, if I'm still interested.
AC often forgets calibration, so you have to pump the brake fully up and down before you drive off. It got me a few times and I was playing with settings etc before a friend told me!

Could it be that?

I've just had the brake locking thing and it's happened to me once before. Basically, the pedal seems to only need a third of the travel to hit 100%.

I go back to the control screen, clear the brake pedal, and re-assign. Making sure to tick the box afterwards.

Edit: time for this track: 2:00:307. Didn't have rsr timing app on so it's not on the website.

What kind of pedals are you using? Does it look like AC is reading it right when you move the pedal when looking at the bars in the controller setup?

New G27 set up.

I'll try the calibration brake pump and see if that helps.

I'll hopefully have a chance to have another wee go tonight but I'm traveling for a week, flying late this evening.

Anyway - I still managed to put a lap together last night which was basically braking a mile before each corner.

There's tons of time there if I can become confident with the braking.

I love the car - it might be slidey but it's beautifully balanced.

It's lovely to drive isn't it? Very easy to get into a slide, but just as easy to get out of it; in that respect it's a bit like a Caterham, which is an impressive compliment for a mid engined grand prix car. The engine's miles ahead of the chassis and the grip it's got; it's a Cosworth DFV, which debuted in this car in 1967, producing 400bhp at a heady 9,000rpm (which makes the E92's V8 seem impressive given that it's a road engine with similar stats). What I can scarcely believe is that the DFV remained dominant in F1 until the early 80s, with DFV powered cars winning the constructors champinship in '78, '80 and '81 and the drivers' championship as late as '82! It was then used in F3000 up until the early 90s. It's still the engine of choice for people running old F1 and F3000 cars in club championships like BOSS. Very impressive for something designed with paper and a pencil in the mid 60s :-)

Regarding the brake pedal issue, it sounds just like the calibration loss issue resolved by a movement through its travel before you drive off, but there are a couple of generic control resets you can try, explained to me here on this thread by AC support: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?thread...

I've just had a quick 5 laps. I think I'll have more time to have another this week, might even take some fuel out next time rolleyes

Nothing much yet, spent most of the time staring at the setup and trying to remember what diff settings I used in GPL hehe

I wish it was Monza though.

ps and I have just found GPL backup discs from May 2004 that have "full back up 67, 68 & 65" on them. I may be away some time smile

I've just transferred my old asymmetrical GPL setup for Watkins Glen (similar twisty) and saved it in Assetto Corsa but not tried it.

Expect a massive crash when I do tomorrow hehe

Ps. GPL loads in about 1 second of clicking the exe, I've found some bigger screen ratios and my nVidia control panel is running it with maximum AA/AF which never existed in 1873 when the game first came out. Wheel not setup to try it, so the car just sat there screaming it's head off at full revs and my replay vcr buttons don't appear but everything else looks fine.

I'm not convinced this car handles much like a real L49 though, the footage I've seen shows them behaving very differently.
I reckon the iRacing version might be closer.

Well I couldn't wait to try out my old GPL Lotus 49 setup and it worked rofl There was no spectacular accident at turn 1 lap 1.

Well I took 6/10ths off my time quite easily but that could have been just me. I'll put in some proper laps tomorrow and see what happens when I get a rhythm going with it.

If you want to try my GPL setup it's here - http://www.mediafire.com/download/fzaeuc75kw5scvq/... - what could be changed to match was, some things weren't.

I might have a look through my GPL and look for a track even better matched to Mugello and try one of those.

I'm gutted that I can't compete more on this track, however, I'm at the airport on my way for a week's skiing in Austria.

Stay safe skiing.

As a side note, it could have been the setup that worked or more likely this that I had just before.

The only reason I don't want Scotland to have independence, I'm afraid they might get extra import duty to the UK and be priced out of the market and disappear from the shops.

The trouble with verifying whether Assetto Corsa or iRacing is realistic is the lack of decent onboard footage from the 49. Back then cameras were seldom seen on cars, and all i've seen since is some onboard from a badly driven example in America. I did verify AC against my 2-Eleven by taking corner speeds and trying both cars on the same track and it seemed pretty good to me, and from memory the Exige and Elise are realistic too, but obviously I can't do that for a 49 (I wish!).

Whilst looking on You Tube I did however find this superb old film of the 49's debut at Zandvoort:

http://youtu.be/V6cm3eWEHM0

And this film from back when Top Gear had proper drivers reviewing proper cars:

Andy's video helped me last week, so I thought it was only fair and polite to record one of my own driving I didn't get a replay of the 1:56.194, so I had another go today and recorded a 1:56.193:

Driver's eye view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OToNN4auZA8

Driver's shoulder view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt2-rAK2NjE

As you can see, a few mistakes and a bit scrappy here and there. My best sectors combined make a high 1:55.
