So I did the overclockers VR qualifier today, and I surprised myself by taking an early lead
I got there and the guy said 1:45 is a good time, the best staffer time was around 1:44...So it's 10 laps first 5 count as practice and they record the final 5, they data log your laps and splits too.
I was a bit worried when my first lap was a 1:52, but I quickly got into the zone in a fairly unfamiliar car, but on a familiar circuit. I managed a 1:37. I was 0.5secs up on my 9th lap and tried to carry too much speed into the last corner, wrecking that lap and the start of the next.
I'm not telling you the combo, because it would give anyone who reads this a heads up and time to practice. I'm sure it will get out anyway, but that Palmer day is £1000 if it's the all dayer I'm thinking of. Wouldn't mind that .
As far as the Vive goes, yes it's awesome and felt so cool, but the resolution was a big disappointment and my eyes felt tired after just the 10 laps. I might have mentioned before that my eyes are already crap, so this was a big concern for me. Long story short, until it's at least 4K resolution I'm going to stick with my triples. It was very immersive I actually thought the in game arms were my own lol.
Glad it went well. Sounds like you stormed it if they thought a good time was 1:45 I got there and the guy said 1:45 is a good time, the best staffer time was around 1:44...So it's 10 laps first 5 count as practice and they record the final 5, they data log your laps and splits too.

You're right about fatigue when using the Vive. I feel pretty stty after 90 mins on Project Cars. In fact, as much as I love it, I think it's going up for sale. Using it for PC is better than the big lounge telly, but it's such a pain in the arse to get everything set up. That plus the fatigue and I'm only using it once a week leads me to think it's best to get out now and try again in a few years when/if headsets are wireless, more comfortable and better res.

If you think about it, that's actually quite realistic, imagine how you'd feel after 90 minutes racing around in a real car lol You're right about fatigue when using the Vive. I'd be looking at a dedicated PC setup, wouldn't want to be faffing about.

I had a go the other night and can't believe how much slower I am I was embarrassed. It was like a 1.25 I'll have another go tonight but I don't think I'll improve much but I was 2 seconds up on me best time then run slightly wide. I think I'm 5 seconds off in the middle sector
At least you don't lose 1 second in a 50 second sector of mostly flat out corners.xjay1337 said:

Number of times am on a good lap and take a nats too much kerb on exit and invalid time pops up! On such a long lap its an absolute pain.
Have switched off the green guiding line now and find its helped improve my laps, still a way down on the best but enjoying the challenge.

I like the braking for bus stop and La Source
I can't seem to string a perfect lap together. Hate Liege.
Would you be a darling and put up a video of your lap specifically s3.I can't seem to string a perfect lap together. Hate Liege.
I can't seem to get S2 for some reason. Spa has always been my track, especially S2 & S3 but in this car, I don't like it...especially on L1 of a run.

Popular combo. I'm 99th on Steam leaderboards (2nd with default settings though! )

We're on similar times Trig, I haven't had chance for another go at it yet but having probs in the middle sector, I'm ~4 seconds down from GE. I still use the racing line thing, I know it isn't at all accurate but I got into the really bad habit of using it years ago in LFS (not accurate in that either) and I still use it on LFS to this day even though I could drive most of the combos blindfolded lol.Have switched off the green guiding line now and find its helped improve my laps, still a way down on the best but enjoying the challenge.
ETA - Looking at the leader board above, interestingly 3 of the top 5 times all use the racing line aswell
